Heigl and Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

From AP:

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "Grey's Anatomy" cast member James Pickens Jr. says the medical drama will be saying goodbye to Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight.
Pickens, who plays Dr. Richard Webber on the ABC series, told Us Weekly magazine that Heigl and Knight are leaving.
Pickens says he wishes Heigl "nothing but the best," the magazine reported online Tuesday. He says his other co-star, Knight, wants to pursue other "career paths."
Publicists for Knight and for series creator Shonda Rhimes declined comment. Requests for comment from Heigl's publicist and ABC were not immediately returned.
Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens, starred in the films "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses," and has another movie, "The Ugly Truth," coming out.

Wonder how well her "attitude" is going to to go over with out a hit tv show to fall back on? No lose in my opinion.

I'm not the key demo for her movies or this show, so I will say no big loss.

Now may her career tank slightly forcing her to redeem herself with Mulholland Drive 2. Or at the very least, Chained Heat.

No surprises there. Georgie hasn't been anything more than a place holder lately and Izzie's storyline has always been the most boring esp. when douchequette is involved.

Re: Heigl and Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

These two have played the most annoying characters on the show pretty much since the middle of season two. I think George could still have been salvaged, but the producers made it clear that wasn't going to happen this season. Addition by subtraction, I say.

I cant say that I am sad about this. Heigl's only real potential on teh show was reached in the pilot epsiode where she showed off her rack. O'malley was next to useless, and just whined incessantly. Made alot of fans hate him.

Yeah but it's still trying to tread water so who knows. Private Practice has come from behind and ran past the GA at this point.

she can always go for Zyzzyx Rd part Zwo .... sequels almost always do better than the original at the BO.

Looks like the only 2 reasons to watch the show is gone... and T.R. Knight is leaving as well.

Yeah, but I'd argue that what they've been doing with Izzie the last few years is a BIG reason why.

Re: Heigl and Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

I frankly dont really care for the show, but I think that the producers/writers are more to blame for this than the actors. They sacked that one gay character from the show because they wrote her into a corner, T. R. Knight and Katherine Heigle are leaving, and the blonde from Alias is leaving too, and she was expected to stay on as a regular. Not to mention that Patrick Dempsey has made a few comments about the storylines and how the producers gave them all lines to say when they canned the blonde last Fall, and he clearly disagreed with it. I think the management on this show is full of themselves and some cast members are just more adept at dealing with it than others.

Re: Heigl and Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

I don't watch the show, but since KU and 27D were hits, it was only a matter of time before Heigl left. I don't dislike her. How's that for high praise?

Who's the blonde from Alias? I never watched Alias.

Re: Heigl and Knight Leaving Grey's Anatomy

That's the character played by Melissa George, Meredith's "good friend" that showed up this season, and was game for any sort of surgery on her own self.

I was going to say isn't this like rats fleeing a ship before it sinks?

Maybe, who knows.

You know, one of main bitching points I see in the Heroes threads each week is that there are too many characters. Maybe losing some GA doctors would be a good thing. They could focus on a smaller team of likable doctors.
