Directors' Showcase: Take Four (including Zabriskie Point) - May 26, 2009
Warner is finally releasing Antonioni's "Zabriskie Point" on May 26. It doesn't come with any extra features other than the trailer, but it should still be the best version by default since releases in other regions have either been pan-and-scan or non-anamorphic.
Also being released on the same day (as a part of a Directors' Showcase set): Cronenberg's "M. Butterfly", Hal Ashby's "Lookin' to Get Out", Hugh Hudson's "Revolution Revisited", and John Boorman's "Beyond Rangoon".
Each title will be available separately for $19.97.

While I'm not an Antonioni fan, this is nice news for those who've been waiting on a release for Zabriskie Point. I'm excited for the Ashby and Cronenberg films...

I disagree; I think it looks very good.
I have to say that I'm kinda bummed that the speculation concerning this title as a possible Criterion title didn't pan out, but the important thing is that it's getting released in R1, with a good transfer, no less.

...Though with Roy Orbison over the closing credits, as opposed to Pink Floyd.

Ugh. I bought Zabriskie Point and I think the ending is spoiled by the critic quote on the back cover. I haven't seen it, so I'll watch the film to find out if I'm right or wrong, but if I'm right, that's a lame oversight on WB's part.
