I am gonna be going for a week or so in April and there are a number of things that i want to do and see (Grand Canyon, maybe Minument Valley, Fire a big ass machine gun, see Hoover Damn, the usual checking out hotels a bit of gambling and what not).
But what else can people recommend?
Also, it looks like i might be staying at the Luxor. Is it any good? Does the hotel comprise of just the Pyramid or does it have rooms in adjoining buildings?

I stayed at the Luxor, and was in the bar with Carrot Top and Cris Angel. Not my idea of fun...
Anyhow, The Beatles Love show is a must-see, in my opinion.

I have been looking at a website that does a one day trip to both the Grand Canyong and Monument Valley by plane. Its looks great. Anyone had any experience with tours like this?

Must see multiple times whether you like The Beatles or not.
I love The Beatles and loved the show. The 3 people I was with the 2nd time I saw it all said it was quite possibly one of the best shows they have ever seen...and none of them even like The Beatles.

Penn & Teller's show at the Rio is great.
And the titty bars. Dear sweet Lord, the titty bars.

It's got the pyramid and a couple of ajoining towers.
I stayed at the Luxor once. Not bad. It was a room in the pyramid, so having the wall slant like that was kinda weird. But it had a jacuzzi by the window, which was nice.
This site's good to read before you go: http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php

the problem with the pyramid room is when you're shitfaced and you go to look out the window and hit your head on the glass

"O" was incredible - it's one of the Cirque du Soleil shows
Also, the lady at the Alladin shops who does psychic readings via rune stones is insanely good
A friend of mine didn't like his tarot reading by somebody else, though

Alladin shops? Are these the same as whatever Alladin is now -- Planet Hollywood? Or is it something else?

Ok, so i have seen a few websites online that offer day tours to places like the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley etc. Is it better to book these before hand or do the hotels do better deals on these kind of days trips?
Also, is there any bargain/discount/voucher type things that i should be aware of for food, shows etc.

The Mac King Comedy Magic Show matinee at Harrah's. Look for greeters handing out 2-4-1 tickets and free drink tickets. Best show you'll see.
Penn & Teller are great, too.

I am looking to play Blackjack as well. I have not played many times before and to be honest i will go in with a set amount to lose and once its gone i will stop. So i am looking for a good table for rookies that has like $3-$5 bets per hand. Any recommendations? Also when is the best time to go in order to miss busy tables? I arriving on a Wednesday and staying until early the next week...so i guess avoid gambling at the weekend in order to miss the crowds.

james -- just like every other customer-oriented business in the world, there are prime times (evenings, weekends) and down times (early mornings, weekdays) at casinos
you'll find cheaper tables during the downtimes
also, you'll find cheaper tables at the shittier looking casinos (casino royale, circus circus, riviera, imperial palace, etc.)
as far as playing the game itself, i recommend you spend a half hour here: http://wizardofodds.com/play/blackjack/
and familiarize yourself with basic strategy -- if you try to make a mistake (like hitting 20 versus a 7), it will tell you that you're making a mistake. it's a great tutorial.

Thanks for the advice and the excellent link. I enjoyed playing Blackjack before (played about 5 times in casinos...and always walked away well ahead) and am looking forward to it again. I guess Vegas Casinos just seem a little bit more daunting. Thanks also for the link, its really gonna help a lot. All the best.
