Looks pretty cool. I never was into M:UA or the X-men Legends games as much as I had hoped or thought I would be based on how much I've enjoyed previous similar action rpg-lite titles like Baldurs Gate: DA and Champions of Norrath. Probably a rental and maybe a $20 purchase for me.

The trailer looks neat, but I had a lot of trouble getting into the first one and haven't finished it. The game play was kind of tedious and repetitive, which is a shame since I love the characters and Marvel.

Can't wait! My sons and I have played through the first one twice so we're looking forward to this new one. What struck me about the first one was how much I recognized the characters and settings even though I hadn't read comics since the early 80s. The sequel looks like it's based on the Civil War storyline which I haven't read so it should be interesting.

I really liked X-Men Legends 1. Played the crap out of it. Co-oped through it multiple times and whatnot.
XML2 was good, but not great. It was a cool idea to add all the extra powers, but it ended up being annoying IMO.
MU:A Was better than XML2, but I just found myself bored with it. Been there done that. This game will have to have some major reworkings/new additions for me to buy it.

These games do get pretty repetitive after awhile, but I haven't played any of them in some time, and my wife is absolutely obsessed with them, so I'll probably be picking it up on day one.
I'm actually kind of pissed at the first one because it never gave me the achievement for answering all the trivia questions. It gave it to my wife when we were in co-op, even though I'm the one that answered them all (and didn't have to look them up because I'm a freaking dork). :suicide:

I think they'll do that. They'll have the separate storylines, with some common ones between the two factions and multiple endings depending on the side you took and the accomplished goals.

There are conflicting report on when the game is going to be released. According to Gamestop is September 1 2009 but Amazon.com has a 9/30/09 listing.
And they have taken the Fusion out of the title officially. The game is now simply Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

There's a preview of M:UA2 in the latest issue of Game Informer and someone involved with the game said that Juggernaut would be a pre-order exclusive character.
Gah! Juggernaut was one of my favorite characters back in my comic collecting days and it'd fun to play as him, but I rarely ever buy a game at launch, as I usually wait until a price drop or two (and then buy it cheaper used). I'm still working my way through the first M:UA and am having a ton of fun with it - I'm currently just about to fight Galactus - so maybe I'll suck it up and pay full price for the new game.

I've recently played thru the first one with some fellow DVD Talkers and actually enjoyed it. Took awhile to adjust and take the long third person view.
Now with the new one I liike the fact they're going with a closer third person view, much like the new Wolverine game where with combat you'll see more and be able to adjust. The new Deadpool movie looked pretty good.

I'm definitely interested in this. I am playing through the first one again with the added Heroes and Villains pack and it is still a lot of fun despite some issues here and there. They really dropped the ball on the simulator disc missions. Those were incredibly unbalanced, frustrating and poorly designed. I missed many of the costumes because I simply refused to do those awful single player missions. The game is designed for 4 player co op and falls completely apart with a single character. I hope they learn this lesson for the new one and don't tie costumes to bullshit side missions.

I loved the original in the beginning but have to agree with some of the comments that it got repetitive very quickly. I know it's in the nature of these types of games, as they are the direct descendents of games like Gauntlet and the Konami/Capcom multiplayer arcade games like TMNT and Simpsons, but maybe they should have taken a page from the similar Lego Star Wars and added some more dimension to the action.
Plus there was a weird issue that made it seem like some of the cutscenes seemed to be of clearly lesser quality than the others, looking more like PS1 cutscenes than something from the current gen.
That said, playing this with 4 in-room buddies was a blast... great old school arcade fun. Hope the sequel can improve upon the original's weaknesses.
I really want this but I'm on the 50/50 fence because Halo:ODST is right behind it. I have friends wanting to play both due to the coop part. I like the look and larger character models to play with. The storyline should be fun and the "Fusion" mode will be a blast to toy with.

The only thing I'm not liking is the fact that I'm seeing to many X-Men and not Avengers. In the Civil War storyline, the X-men basically sat out and the Hulk was sent out to space before the event. I would have liked to see Giant Man, the Young Avengers, Cloak and Dagger, the Punisher, the Thunderbolts, Cable, the Falcon, Namor, etc.
In one of the oddest things I've seen in the PSN store yet, Juggernaut is available for purchase as a playable character for $1.99. I hope this isn't a sign of nickle and diming DLC for this game, but I assume it is.

If they did it right, this could actually be a cool idea. Charge $30 for the game and have something like 50 characters available for $2 a pop. You could buy 15 of them and it'd be the cost of a normal game, or you could go a bit over if you really wanted a bigger team to choose from. Yeah, though, it's a game publisher, so they'd probably charge regular price and then extra for the characters.
Anyway, I have this preordered and am looking forward to it, but I'm curious about the co-op gameplay. Just about all of the videos I've seen seem to only show one or two playable characters on screen. With how much larger the characters seem to be, I hope it isn't too cluttered when you play with four people.

I haven't paid full price for a game in a long time and was hoping Toy R Us would have a deal. I'm really worried about this title since Raven isn't working on it. The graphics are a bit nicer, but you'll never see them sine you CAN NOT tell what the hell is happening on screen 99% of the time. If you are playing co-op, forget it...you'll never keep track or your hero. Single player is a bit better, bit the entire point of this game is co-op and it's broken beyond playability. Also, the menus are a huge pain in the ass to navigate and the story is just lame so I began to skip it all. I actually had high hopes for the online co-op with friends in this game and now I'll never play it :( Oh, the achievement are also way harder this time, which is the final nail in the coffin. That's disappointing to hear. MUA was my second 360 game (after Gears 1) and I actually had a pretty good time playing through it. I was counting on this game being my "keeper" in the TRU buy 2 get 1 free October promo, now I'm not sure -- maybe NFS Shift would be preferable. I knew this game would pale in comparison to Batman AA, but to hear it's not even as good as MUA is a little shocking to me. I'm always leery of big titles with no advanced reviews, and maybe this is why there's an embargo on this. A guy on CAG liked it, though. Said it was 7 hrs to play through once and you have to play through twice for the full story, I guess.

So this is the Full Gamer Version you are playing right? What raises a red flag for me is the lack of in depth previews at this stage right before a release. I've seen far more out there on games coming out far later than this one. Ususally not a good sign (look a Damnation).
And trailers, they've been about one character while not one showing coop mode. I was already 50/50 on this and I'll wait for the reviews first. Thanks for the insight.

Yeah the no reviews thing is a huge red flag for me. This is a hugely anticipated title and I know for a fact IGN has had the review build for nearly two weeks because they mentioned it on the podcast. For no reviews to be released it means that Activision has them on embargo and that can't be a good sign. If anyone had given this thing a high review you would think Activision would give them the exclusive review to drum up hype.
You didn't see Scribblenauts, Need for Speed: Shift or Mario & Luigi 3 getting their reviews held, but those were mostly glowing reviews.

I've been searching around for feedback from people that got the game early and overall it seems positive. The negatives seem to be the same ones that plagued the first game (repetitive enemies and the like) and there seems to be a general "if you liked the first one you will like this one better" among the posts I have found. However, I have found little on people playing it co-op so I don't know if others will be as negative on it as the comments here. I'm still not sold on it all the way, but it does seem like there are people that are liking it. I found a couple of reviews from small sites and they gave it pretty good feedback.

I was in the Prototype sucks camp for about the first hour I played it. The graphics in the cutscenes (e.g. blowing up a base or hive) suck. The controls are pretty rough at first too. Once you start leveling up, though, it becomes a blast. Actions that I had a really hard time with early on became way easier once I had upped the guy's abilities. The amount and variety of ass kicking you can do in the game just flat out rocks. I think the game's makers may have shot themselves in the foot with that first hour, as it seems to have turned a lot of people off to it. If you made it a ways in and hated it, well, then we just have to disagree.
Anyway, back on topic, my copy of MUA2 should be here tomorrow, but I won't have much time to play it til the weekend. Hopefully I'll be back in the thread to argue its merits by the end of the week.

I hope the reviews start coming out soon. Picked up my pre-order today, but don't have time to play it this week. If it's no good, I'll have to return it and order something else. I'm thinking maybe Demon's Souls. But I'm hoping the reviews for MUA2 are good - it would be great to own another good comic book game, following after Arkham Asylum, but the "too much stuff happening on-screen to know what's going on" was always a concern for me after seeing the preview vids.

So did anyone that preordered at Gamestop get their Juggernaut codes yet? Seems most people got theirs this weekend, but I have yet to get one emailed. I did the registration on the website so I should get it. Be just like Gamestop to not give me my preorder bonus. At least an employee didn't walk off with it to ebay this time. BTW, I read that Best Buy and Gamecrazy have codes to unlock Hulk and Thor, but they are unlockable with items in the game so you won't miss out on those two either way. Juggernaut seems to be the only character that required a special purchase.

^ I pre-ordered from EB/Gamestop in Canada, and my Juggernaut code came taped to my copy of the game, in the form of a paper voucher.
It really sucks that the sequel has fewer heroes (though I'm sure they will DLC the hell out of us later) and only 1 extra costume. I can deal with the game being the same repetitive button mashing as before, but it sucks there isn't more of what was in the first one.
Still it looks like something I will enjoy so it may get my $60.

Yeah, I did that last week, but I never got a code in email. Looking online I'm not alone. I called the store and they said the email was the way to get it and to just wait. Guess it will show up eventually.
I ended up buying the game. Not from Gamestop since they can't even get a preorder bonus right through email. The complaints posted here are pretty much dead on. This is probably not a game you want to drop $60 on.
The combat is like the last game where you fight waves of the same enemies over and over. I do like the fusion attacks for some of the characters. The combo that Wolverine does with Iron Man is very cool. Many of the others suck though like tossing Wolverine with Spiderman or speed up attacks.
The problem is the camera and it is much worse than the last game. Fighting the giant robot at the end of the Tinkerer battle was frustrating as hell. You have to attack the legs, but it puts the camera at tough angles and you have a hard time zeroing in on the legs while avoiding the pound attacks and the other enemies. You lose your character constantly while playing co-op and at one point I had to pause and just walk away for 5 minutes to calm down. Losing your guy happened as well on the last game, but this one seems darker and when you get swarmed you will lose your guy if you are not careful.
I'm pretty sure I can adjust to this though and I still find it fun to play co-op with my son. Yes, I'm a sucker for the Marvel license. The difficulty seems high to me as well. We started out playing it on medium, but I think I may bump it down to casual. We died a ton just playing the first level though we found enough health items to keep bringing characters back. Guys like Gambit seemed to die instantly when a swarm hit. Part of it is learning the game, but this is a brainless button masher so they heroes should be tougher.
I also don't like everything they took out. Customizing the characters is way cut down, less costumes, less characters. They should have kept the previous engine intact and added more to it. All this taking away sucks when it was for a graphical upgrade a game like this doesn't need.
So overall it is a good game with issues and I will enjoy it, but worth $60? No.

I went ahead and unlocked Thor and Hulk and cruised through the next chapter so yeah it wasn't as hard as my first impression. I'm definitely getting used to it now and the fusions can be very cool.
The Hulk & Thor fusion is pretty sweet, but I really liked the one with Thor and Captain America where you spread out the lighting. The fight in DC also showed off the new graphics and it was nice though it still doesn't fully make up for the lack of customization this time out.
I'm definitely digging it and it is a blast to play co-op if you can get past the problems. The Civil War storyline is pretty nice, but it sucks I will have to play it through next time with Iron Man. I like having Cap on my team.

I agree on both, but free DLC is not happening. If the PSN snafu was any indication they are planning on charging $2 a pop for any extra characters they add.
For anyone wondering about balance they really don't seem as balanced to me as the first game, but so far I am liking that. I like that Thor and Hulk can steamroll through enemies, pick up almost anything and throw it and deliver and take a ton of damage. I was getting frustrated a bit with some of the more human characters, but I can see why Thor and Hulk are locked early in the game. Once you get them you really don't want to use anyone else. I got Deadpool, but I'm not liking his ranged attacks as much as the first game. He was one of my favorites to use in MUA1.

My frustration with this game is growing. You are constantly fighting the camera angles, trying to keep track of your character and now they are throwing in the cheapest bosses ever. Took three tries to get past Mr Fantastic one of the biggest pussies in Marvel. They give him this super cheap spin attack that if you don't dodge takes nearly all your health away no matter which character you are. Then you have to fight him and Iron Man and that took me a couple of tries to clear. They follow that up with a bomb disposal while fighting Venom on the ground and Hobgoblin dropping bombs at your feet. We died 5 times on that one before I said to hell with it and called it a day.
Needless to say this is turning into the worst 60 bucks I have ever spent. Dealing with bad camera angles, too much on screen stuff to see what you are doing and cheap bosses at the same time is my limit. I'm going to have to put this one aside for awhile until I can get the interest back to deal with the bullshit.
If you are on the fence on this game I can't say avoid it strongly enough. It is inferior to MUA1 in every way possible and the more I play it the more I dislike it.
Edit: Decided to play through the section I was stuck on single player and it was an entirely different experience. The camera stays with you and you can hit and run, dodge and actually play with some strategy. Had no trouble beating this section. I guess the lesson is play it single player.

I think the best fusion powers, at least that I've tried, are Venom/Storm and Storm/Iron Man. The first takes out every little baddie in radius, and the 2nd is good on bosses. How do you unlock Thor? Picking up the artifacts? I found 4 on my first run though :/.

To unlock Jean, enter Left, Left, Right, Right, Up, Down, Up, Down and press Start.
Hulk is Down, Left, Left, Up, Right, Up, Down, Left and Start.
Thor is Up, Right, Right, Down, Left, Right and Start.
You enter the codes while playing. I don't know if they work while paused. I did them in the main hub between battles.
Using these codes does not disable achievements or give any penalties. You unlock them eventually by collecting 5 artifacts during the game.

I played about an hour last night and found it to be pretty much the same as the original. I agree with the majority of reviews that reference prettier graphics and an unfortunately watered down leveling system. So far, the camera doesn't seem like much of an issue for me. I like that it's still considerably back from the action, as most of the preview videos made it look like you were right up the characters' asses while you play.

I am playing on the middle Heroic difficulty. I think it is fine to play on that one. Casual is an even easier option since you never will die on casual. If you run out of health you simply get back up. No deaths. The downside to casual is no carrying over to a new game+ save and no achievements. Heroic is easy enough for most people I think, but Casual is there if you need it.
The problems we were having was more to do with with the co-op camera. It is really pulled back and at weird angles and with all the stuff going you can lose your character and it can be hard to dodge quickly when you need to. Also, my son is not great at action games and there were times we were doing a better job of getting in each others way than beating the boss.
The game really isn't hard and we have adjusted to the game and had no issues after the Venom part. We are almost done with the whole game and haven't died since that part. I wouldn't worry about the difficulty. Play the first level on Heroic and if you run into trouble you can just restart it on casual if needed.

Finished the anti-registration side of the game and the big issue I have with the game is the story. They just took too many liberties with the Civil War and then added the Fold crap, which completely ruined the storyline. The developers could have easily left the game on a cliffhanger like the Death of Captain America, but they decided to go into the lame Fold story. I'm going to play the pro-reg this weekend and hopefully the storyline goes into another idea.
Activision and Vicarious Visions should have gone with the Infinity Gauntlet storyline before trying to tackle the unfinished, convoluted Civil War idea.
One of the things I liked in this game was the elimination of sequence pressing of buttons to battle a boss like Galactus or Mandarin in the first game. This time, they let the heroes attack the villains directly.

I would like to take Gamestop out on a date, slip it a roofie, sodomize it while taking pictures, then slowly send the pictures to Gamestop over the years as it tries to recover from the trauma.

I pick the game up on release date, and they hand me a card and say "go to this website and fill out the information" to get your Juggernaut code. I do, and it says it will be e-mailed to me.
Apparently, Gamestop's site they set up for this didn't actually check your pre-order receipt number. It had a blank for it, but you could put anything in and it would apparently work. People who didn't pre-order the game were filling in the form multiple times, using gibberish receipt numbers, and receiving multiple copies. So when I didn't get my code, I wrote Gamestop, and they replied that they were "out of codes" and that the offer was "only while supplies last." They need to fulfill their end of the bargain for your pre-order. If they won't give you the Juggernaut code, then they'll either have to pay for it when it becomes available on the PSN or give you some type of compensation. Is not your problem that they were so stupid to not do a proper procedure for giving the code.

I gave this game a hard time, but I have to give it credit for two very cool things. If you beat the game the credits have an awesome bit with Deadpool breaking the 4th wall like he does in the comics. Pretty funny bit where he is complaining about his character design and the fact the game was supposed to be called Deadpool and his Inferior Friends. I also like the audio file you find after beating the game. It is Hulk doing Haiku and it was pretty good.

I'm pretty close to the end of my first playthrough and my only complaint would be the constant glitches I've encountered. I've had two lock-ups, which suck, but seemingly can happen with any game. Quite a few achievements are glitched for me though. Most of the ones that track your progress seem to be screwed on my playthrough. For instance, I might get the progress pop-up showing I've destroyed 150/250 health containers and then the next time it comes up, it says 25/250. Game seems to be doing that on all the achievements where you have to do something X number of times. The same goes for unlocking the bonus costumes for some of the heroes. I have 6 or 7 characters that I've killed well over 50 enemies with, but their costumes just won't unlock. Spider-Man, Deadpool and Iron Man are the ones that pop to mind. Kind of a pain in the ass. Other than the crappy glitches, I'd say they delivered a solid game. It kept everything I enjoyed about the first one, while changing up just enough to make it feel fresh.

I noticed several glitches but mostly with enemies that get stuck in the wall. As for the additional costumes, for some of the them, you have to reach the anti/pro registration part of the game. Then, launch a Fusion attack and you'll see that the counting of knockdown enemies will begin.
What bothers me about the game is that when you choose sides, all the heroes are still available. The game should lock Cap, Cage, Iron Fist, Fury and Daredevil if you choose pro registration and Iron Man, Richards, Syren, Venom and Goblin if you choose anti registration.

Apparently Deadpool, Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Ms. Marvel, Songbird and Spider-Man can only be done on pro-reg. Captain America, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Wolverine can only be done on anti-reg. The rest can be done on either.
As for the heroes being available, maybe your game glitched on that? When I picked anti-reg, Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic and Songbird all became locked for the whole of Act II. If you pick pro-reg, I think it locks Captain America, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

Maybe I got lucky. Right now I'm in Act II and just for the hell of it I used Captain America, Iron fist and Cage in the pro registration part and had no issues at all.

I noticed that like many games it screws the 2nd player on their co op achievements. I get full credit for everything, but even though they are logged in with their gamer profile it resets everything for them on every playthrough. Unless we can get the achievement in one sitting they can never get the achievements for co op maps, fusions, etc because it resets their count every time.

The place in Wakanda right? just push and pull the 4 columns in the middle to their respective fit in the circle. It's really a simple shape form for each.

I just noticed that one of movies you can unlock in this game is a teaser trailer for Planet Hulk.
Ok. I spoke to Gamestop over the phone this week (the second attempt... the first attempt, I got an automated voice that basically said "we're too busy to deal with you" and then hung up). They rectified the Juggernaut code problem, so I've been playing the game for about a week. The girl I spoke to was very helpful, and she actually sounded really cute too, so that's a bonus.
I've loved it. I had played the two X-Men Legends games, which I liked. I had only recently played through Ultimate Alliance 1, and I found it to be fun, but a little mediocre. This game seems a million times better to me.
I finished the game on regular. I really don't have a complaint. The game's not particularly deep, but it's just fun. If I had to gripe, it would be:
Once you finish the game, you can start over with all your characters unlocked, but only on Legendary difficulty. I would really have preferred being able to start over on regular.
The character selection is excellent (Juggernaut is awesome, by the way), the graphics are much improved over the first one, and the game has a real sense of humor to it. It's just plain fun, in my mind.
I'll probably play back through at least once as Pro-Reg. Then it's on to Batman:Arkham Asylum and LittleBigPlanet.

I've been coming back to this one. Going back through the simulator to find missed items, finishing up the trivia and so forth. At this point my only gripe is the fact that New Game + is locked to Legendary only. If they would patch that so I could play through the pro reg side with everyone unlocked on Heroic it would be nice.
I've been trying to play through some of the simulator stuff to unlock costumes, but I can't believe how bad some of these are. Especially since they only get one alternate. Some are good like the alternate Captain America, but others like Red Hulk just suck.

I agree with you on the the bad idea that people have to play on Legendary with the unlocked stuff, although to be honest, it is not that hard.
On the other hand, I like the Red Hulk alternate custom, although I hate the character personally. One of my biggest gripes with this game is that they only allowed one additional custom for every character except Fury. Cap should also have had US Agent,
Thor - Beta Ray Bill
Hulk - Gray Hulk and Planet Hulk attire
Spider-Man - Black Costume and Scarlet Spider
Nick Fury - regular attire and Sgt Fury fatigues
Daredevil - original red & yellow attire
Wolverine - brown and yellow attire
Iron Man - War Machine, Hulkbuster suit
Penance - Speedball
Venom - Anti-Venom, Carnage
Luke Cage - Power Man costume

I also hope that they start putting character packages on the PSN. They could add
Colossus, Black Panther, Justice, Firestar, Bischop, War Machine, She-Hulk, Juggernaut, Sentry, Cyclops, Blade, Psylocke, Black Widow, Hercules, Spider-Woman, Prodigy, Havok, Wonder Man, Cloak, Dagger, Lady Deathstrike, Cable, Bullseye, Patriot. They could also transfer some characters from the previous game and expand the costume choices.
I'm fairly sure they'll milk this for all it's worth this time (though maybe not the specific characters you're asking for, though Juggy is already available and the Dark Avengers and new Mighty Avengers lineups would make sense). I mean, why else would they have less costumes than they did last time?
My main gripe the last time they added characters were that they were way, way behind in leveling up. Now that you have to start a new game + on a harder difficulty setting, no way you could use them until they leeched some experience off of your existing characters playing through the game.

Batman:AA is a masterpiece of a game. Going from that to MUA2 is ok since they are different types of games, but it is going from a AAA title to a game that is a B level title at best.

I can't stand Rulk personally. I wish they had done purple pants Hulk, Grey Hulk or pretty much any other Hulk but that one.
I totally agree on the costumes. MUA had 4 for each character and gave them the room to add in most of the alternates you would want for most characters. I'm expecting them to not only sell us new characters, but new costumes as well. This game has the potential to be a real DLC fest.

Ah. I just finished Batman and was thinking of trying this out. I also have KZ2 that I haven't started....and Fallout 3 and the Beatles Rock Band. I guess I should play something I already own. Still, I liked the arcade version of xmen and played X-Men Legends or something on xbox. I enjoyed the combo-ing....leveling up and that I could play with a friend in the room.

This was a fun, quick distraction while I wait for Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend. The one costume thing is pretty silly, though. I like the '80s costumes, but almost all of them were newer costumes instead.
I've already played through once on Anti-Reg and am going back through a second time as Pro-Reg. (I almost never do this, but it's so short that it actually sounds fun, as opposed to tedious.) Playing as Legendary after you've beaten the game is no big deal, as the difficulty is about the same as Heroic the first time through, and Heroic was not especially challenging.
Going from Batman to inFamous was a slight drop (A+ to A-, perhaps). Going from inFamous to this was a little bigger (A- to B-), but now I think that most of my original problems with the game (camera issues, etc.) were primarily issues with the first level. After beating it I'd say it climbed back up to a B.
Yeah, I did break down and buy (found it used) and had the same issues at first... Once I got going with it, I actually really had some fun with it, and may play through again until Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

Finally picked up the game with the TRU sale from a couple weeks ago and played it. Who the heck came up with the picks for alternate costumes? If they're only going to have one each, make them count! Most of them are from the Ultimate Universe, which is barely relevant anymore. Is that Luke Cage from the Ultimate Universe, I didn't recognize the costume? And Daredevil?
Some of them are neat tie ins, but personally I would never play them, like Penance and Iron Fist. I also have no idea why they felt they had to change the looks of some of the characters, like Iron Fist... I was kinda hoping they'd have more of a classic alt costume.
I didn't mind Rulk, and liked classic Venom, Green/Hobgoblin (at least they didnt' stick us with Ultimate or movie GG), modern Thor, and even military Cap with the different shield. Haven't played through pro-reg yet so no idea how those costumes are.
I'm going to be ticked if they saved most of the classic alts for DLC.

A friend loaned me his copy and I beat the pro-reg story at around five and a half hours.
One of the best examples of a sequel that brings enhanced graphics and gameplay, but manages to be completely tedious due to a sub-par story. The cast at times reminded me of Superman/Batman: PE (that recent direct to DVD movie): large but full of second and third rate personalities.
I'll probably go get a cheap copy of the first game now (had it for the original X-Box), as I can only see myself beating this once more just to see the anto-reg story for completions sake.

The first DLC for this game will be released on November 5th for a price of $9.99 on PS3 and 800 points on the X-box. It includes Cable, Psylocke and Carnage and simulator missions and extra boosts. There may be 2 additional characters included. Also, the former Gamestop exclusive Juggernaut will be available on the same day for $1.99.
All I can say is that this is fucking ridiculous. The price for both is ridiculous, the fact that Juggernaut is not included in the first pack is ridiculous and the content is ridiculous (extra boost?!?). Activision can shove this DLC up their asses. They should fucking learn from Rocksteady, who has supplied additional content for the Batman Arkham Asylum game with no additional cost.

That's pretty lame DLC. I remember in the last game, 8 new characters plus new Achievements were 800 points, but not only was that more characters, there were some big ones like Hulk and Venom. If not for MvC2, I don't think I'd know who any of these guys are from that DLC pack. Pass.

I'm done with this game. The only way I can play through it again and keep my characters is on the hardest mode and that is not going to happen. I'm also not paying $10 for such a lame DLC pack. Love that the character you can only get if you preorder is for sale. I final FU to all the people that preordered this mediocre game.

You know, I'm not very far into it, but it seems alright. If not sandwiched between all the surrounding awesomeness (Batman, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, etc), I really think this would be considered a fine game. It's not a huge advancement of the genre, but it's still fun so far. I suppose it will get repetitive as I keep playing, but so far, I think it's fine for what I was expecting. Maybe I'm just SO happy that it doesn't take 30 seconds to swap out or level up a character anymore that everything else is just gravy at this point. If nothing else, they did a good job streamlining things, even if they did end up dumbing a lot of things down in the process.

looks a little fuzzy compared to the other games I've been playing Uncharted2, Batman and so on....but it's at least 2 player co-op. I'll get the updates, but just because I have some sony reward earned psn credits and haven't had anything to use them for. anyway, it's a bit crowded at times and I'm not really sure what I'm doing beyond button mashing, occasional healing, and fusion-ing it up. I guess the game goes somewhere, but I'll take it for the co-op factor and marvel fun....

No the FU to the people who pre-ordered was Gamestop allowing anyone with a URL to the redemption site to get as many codes as they wanted, sell them, and then tell paying customers to piss off.

My main problem with the gameplay is that it's boring. It's like gauntlet or dynasty warriors, wave after wave of the same enemies over and over. The camera's pulled so far back att imes that you're just mashing buttons because you can't really see what's happening. I'm pretty sure the first one was similar, but I think my obsession with unlocking all the costumes trumped that... with just one alternate costume, and a handful of characters with costumes that cannot be unlocked in a particular playthrough, that aspect was eliminated.
Also, the menu design is atrocious. I liked the first one's character select much more, where you could see all the available characters. There is absolutely no reason why the stats page that tells you how to unlock costumes/bonuses for characters is on an entirely separate menu from the character select screens. Also, why not a list of fusions, especially after you use them? I had to constantly shift through lineups to find the right fusion type.
And they wasted a selectable character with the very last character you get.
I did like the storyline, though it understandable devolved during the end, since you had to have the sides merge without one being outright evil. They also put a lot of work into the conversations... I like how they have special conversations depending on who you're controlling, and even outside of those your conversation choices vary slightly (in wording, though not intent) depending on who you are. The mass effect-esque tree didn't really do much for me... at times, if they didn't tell me which was "diplomatic" I wouldn't have known from the choice itself.
Magneto and his abilities look better than anything in the retail game.

I don't have the exact text, will try to post it later, but it seems like this DLC will expire on December 31. Or at least that's what it says. Any reason why they would do this?
