I was checking out ebay and these litle beauties caught my eyes. From what I can tell there are 4 main companies:

Pioneer PDV-LC10
Panasonic DVD-L50\L10
Aiwa XD-DW1
Sharp DV-L70

The pioneer and the sharp where the most expensive. Which one do wou guys recomend?

I was at Sam's Club This afternoon and saw the Sharp DV-L70 for $999. Sweet little machine. This is the cheapest I've seen it by about $200 - including out on the web. It's getting good reviews on zdnet and earned the Editor's Choice. See Palm Theater writeup at:

You may want to look into it if you live near a Sam's Club.

The Pioneer has the biggest screen too. My friend has one, and he couldn't be happier with it. It has also been getting rave reviews.

I'd love to have one of these babies, but I can see shelling out $1000 for one, when $1000 would buy me a nice new set of speakers, or a bigger TV set, or a computer, or make a downpayment on a car, or.... you get the idea...

Maybe when they are $500 :-)

Panasonic(which I have) is better if you are actually concerned about "portability". I can carry mine around in a standard cd player holder with it's battery, but I believe from the reviews I have read, that the pioneer requires something a little larger, like a small camcorder size bag. The only issue I have with the panasonic is that it gets a little hot if you set it directly on your lap while viewing, but if you get a nice leather carrying case, that will shield the heat quite nicely if you rest it on it. The larger screen on the Pioneer is a plus, but when you are sitting within 2 feet of either one, it really isn't going to make a hell of a lot of difference. I use mine quite frequently hooked up to another t.v., and the quality is superb. You should take into consideration this factor when making your decision. Keep your eyes peeled at ebay, and you can get a really good deal. I paid less than $600 for my Panasonic, and it was money very well spent. I find myself watching more movies away from home than I do while I am at home. Whichever one you choose, make sure it is something you will really use, and not regret about in a few months.
