Darklight on DVD but not Blu-ray?

Maybe it depends on the movie but there is a movie, Darklight which originally airred on the SciFi Network, was released on DVD. I am just wondering why they would release it on DVD but not Blu-Ray?

Was the movie not filmed in HD Film or something. A couple other movies get released on DVD but not blue and they are recent releases so most of the recent releases get released in blue. However even though Darklight was released on December 16, 2008 the actual film was made in 2004. Why wasn't it released in blu? Not too popular. All the special effects would look great in blu.

Probably because it was a Sci-Fi channel original film

Maybe Echo Bridge will get the rights to it and release it as a budget title?
