Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

Some news has slipped from the studios of Universal of a viral game to air on Youtube on Jan 31st to promote the upcoming release of Jaws 35th Aniversary DVD, although the 35th Aniversary for Jaws is more than a year away rumors say that the viral could be related to a possible Jaws remake or sequal...

Please god let there be a remake. The sequels were amazing, but the original was terrible!

Yeah, I don't think so. It'd take huge balls to remake this film...I mean it's motherfucking Jaws! It changed the world with it's view of sharks! Albeit fake portrayal of to an extreme..but a great flick.

Of all the films that need to have a SE re-released in theaters it's Jaws. Go back in, replace that fake ass shark with some CGI, and the film would become a classic.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Jaws was terrible.

Wait a minute ... Roy Schieder died last year? Damn ... missed that one.

I'm not keen on a new Jaws movie ... Jaws jumped the shark after the first one.

Re: Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

Ugh. What more is there to add to a DVD of Jaws? Not to mention there was a 25th and 30th Anniversary Edition of Jaws already. I'll bite (get it) only if it, as people mentioned, includes a third disc with The Shark is Still Working in its entirety, and I'd prefer to have it on Blu. Also, I thought a lot of Jaws 2 was alright, and Jaws 3-D is an amusing bad movie. It'd be nice if Universal put out a Triple Feature like the Psycho sequels.

I have to say, of all the remakes, while Jaws is a classic, I don't feel as attached to it. Not that it's great to do any remake, but somehow it feels like the right kind of property to remake, and not like it's just motivated by greed or the desire to cash in or stupid people. Somehow it seems all right to me.

Yeah, and replace Chief Brody's gun with a walkie talkie while you're at it....sheesh!

I'd love to see a new JAWS movie, but not a remake...more like a reboot that treats the original story as canon (you can ignore the three sequels as far as I'm concerned).

Re: Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

It isn't part of the Jaws franchise, but there was talks about filming a shark movie with the prehistoric shark - Megalodon. It was entitled 'Meg' - production as of now has stalled.

Re: Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

I'd be down for a new story that takes place years after Brody's storyline... but I wouldn't have high hopes for it unless they got some serious creative talent behind it. I'd much rather have a sequel to Deep Blue Sea to satisfy any 'Killer Shark' urges that Hollywood has... and I read MEG and would easily go see that movie too.l

Re: Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

The original film (that's how we are gonna have to refer to it as) just wasn't scary without showing the shark at every possible moment. Spielberg made a mistake not showing the shark more. Thank god this remake has come along, it will be so much better once Andy Serkis is playing the shark.

Re: Possible Jaws Remake/Sequel?

I know it was filmed as a TV movie, but I'm sure someone could do a film version of the Jersey Shore shark attacks that took place in 1916 - and some more intensity and gore.
