Mary Tyler Moore: The Complete Series ---> May 5, 2009

Tvshowsondvd.com is reporting that fox will release the complete series of "Mary Tyler Moore" on the Fifth of May with an MSRP of $179.xx.

The set will include the previously released seasons 1-4, as well as the unreleased fifth, sixth and seventh seasons of the series.

No Word if Seasons 5-7 will be released individually...

Note: Kind of a slap in the face in a couple ways to the people who purchased seasons 1-4 when they came out...

I agree with the slap in the face aspect to a degree, although the only season that cost me more than $20 was the first. Considering fans of the show have been getting dicked around by Fox for over 7 years, I'm thankful to know that it will be DONE and we won't be stuck waiting for years between releases wondering if they'll happen at all. I'm just mad I didn't have this info yesterday when I was on the fence about selling my existing MTM seasons on SecondSpin.com, since that was the last day for the 20% bump. Oh well, I'll just wait until they do it again.

Re: Mary Tyler Moore: The Complete Series ---> May 5, 2009

I think I only have the first two seasons on DVD, so the complete series set isn't that much of a set back for me. Disappointing, yes. But not a major issue.

I wonder if they will do this with any other shows? Like Newhart or Bob Newhart or Night Court?

And they wonder why fans wait to buy season sets when they first come out.

I already own Seasons 1-4, but I still consider this to be FANTASTIC news!!!

EDIT: Hopefully we'll be able to get it for $100 or less from a not-to-be-mentioned June sale!

Maybe if this works out well, they can release a complete set for Hill Street Blues.

So you should still be able to return them, or I presume you opened them?

I've waited this long for them to finish the series, I'll wait a few more years until this set becomes an Amazon deal of the day.

As usual, those of us who bought the season sets as they came out get screwed.

SecondSpin is paying a total of $22 for the four seasons, so with the 20% bump, you'd get $26.40. Or you can do what I'm doing: sell them to Newtownvideo.com for about $35.

that'll offset the cost of buying the other seasons already in my book.

Same here. This set will be $50 or so someday. I'll look into selling off the first 4 seasons.

I'm really glad now I never bought beyond season 1. I kept putting the rest off waiting for a season 5 announcement.

This is fucking bullshit. I already bought the first 4 seasons. I'm not repeat buying the first 4 seasons again.

Fuck them - I'm not buying this.

I love it when people get slapped in the face by Mary Tyler Moore.

I've also heard a rumor that St. Elsewhere will be getting a complete series release, perhaps later this year. At least with that show they only ever released one season...

Peter (who picked up the 4 MTM's during B1G0 sales so not too deep in the hole)

I've been hearing rumors about one for "Everwood" as well. But I'm not sure how reliable the source is...

I know it's too much to dream, but since they're screwing us, maybe they licensed White Christmas and restored Christmas & the Hard Luck Kid II for the set.

Well, in the last Warner chat, they said Season 2 would be released this year. Perhaps they've changed that to a Complete set.

If so, maybe rereleasing the first Season in anamorphic widescreen wouldn't be out of the question.

Hope this is true. Maybe this is what FOX will do with a lot of its stalled TV on DVD shows... The Practice, Picket Fences, etc.

That would be great! Hill Street Blues is a brilliant show and I really want the rest of the seasons on DVD.

Maybe NYPD: Blue could get the same treatment.

I want the rest of St. Elsewhere on DVD. I think when an individual season release doesn't sell well the studios should release a Complete Series set for the fans that want to complete their collection. King of the Hill is another good example of a show that should get the Complete Series treatment.

I will be buying the Mary Tyler Moore Complete Series box set.

I did the same thing. When they took so long to release the second season, I held off buying them for some reason. Glad I held off.
