Friend is getting married, so need a place for a couple of nights. Some other friends are staying at the MGM Grand, so any deals there would be ideal, but as long as it's not downtown (wife wants something close to everything, lol) it's cool with me. Anything under $100 a night is a good start.

I checked Vegas.com and Lasvegas.com but the MGM was well over $100+ a night. So enlighten me, and find me a deal guys :)

Excalibur for $194

http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41603

Offer link:
https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=offer&code=XBRD

Everything else around the area of MGM (Luxor, NYNY, Monte Carlo, etc.) are all about $130-140 a night.

You're likely not going to find great deals at a wife-acceptable hotel that weekend since it's opening weekend of March Madness. To get any sort of awesome deals you'll need to be a standing member of that casino group's players club (like how I got my rooms free that week from Harrah's Total Rewards program).

Thanks Scorcho.

Turns out my friend and most of the people coming are staying at the MGM Grand Signature. $179 a night, no thanks for that. Why pay so much for the room when you won't be there that long?

I could see maybe $130 or so a night but that's about it.

By doing some searching, I saw IP was under $100 a night, around $65-$70 or so a night. I am assuming there is a reason it's that cheap

I don't think I am a member of any club, and if I was it's not because I am some elite gaming pro

I stay at the Imperial Palace for the reasons you describe -- it's dirt cheap and I'm in the room 4-6 hours a night to pass out drunk. No reason for me to pay $200 a night for a room. Plus it's got a central location and I can walk to many casinos easily.

But if you're bringing the missus along, it's much better to pay more for the room than listen to her bitch during the trip (and after) about the room quality, even if she's marginally agreeable about it at the time.

Anyway, if you want to go up to $130-140 a night total, these options open up:

Out of those listed, what is the best wife friendly place? She likes to relax, too, so do any of them have spas or jacuzzi's in room or just a really big tub?

El Scorcho
01-30-09, 02:05 PM
On a scale of 1-10 wife-friendliness:

TI: 9
Monte Carlo: 8
Bally's: 5
Excalibur: 4
Imperial Palace: -183

TI is also next to the Fashion Show Mall, so your wife would probably like spending your money there.

No rooms come standard with jacuzzi's and tubs -- gotta pay a lot more for those rooms. They're usually called junior suites. TI has a spa though -- http://www.wetspati.com

I'm sure Monte Carlo has one as well. I'd suggest TI -- that hotels really nice and $109 a night or so is a great weekend price, historically.

-183

Sounds like we might be leaning towards TI. I was talking to one of the friends staying at the Signature at MGM, and they're staying three nights. Some romance package I guess. They have a nice little $20 a night resort fee as well, so he's paying about $600 for three nights. Crazy. I'd rather spend that extra money on bars, booze, gambling, etc.

I get an error from that TI link you posted. I try the code and it shows as $318 for two nights.

i also had the dates fucked up, i can't recreate $237 when i enter in march 20-22

TI would be my choice of those. Package deals usually aren't that bad for non-gambler rates.

That sucks, that was a good deal. $318 isn't bad but still.

TI would probably be pretty wife-friendly. Decent pool. Decent shopping and close to the FS Mall. Close to Venetian too and a wife should like that. I've stayed there before - rooms are pretty good.

IP has quite the reputation.

We just got back from a weekend at Planet Hollywood. It's a huge improvement from what the Aladdin was and has some great prices (we stayed for avg $110 /night in a resort room). Centrally located next to Paris and directly across from Bellagio as well.

The girl loved the room as well.

I haven't been down that way in a while. Do they still have that retarded lack-of-a-sidewalk out in front of the place?

The last time I was there that was the case. We also tried the buffet at PH about two trips ago. Blech. Oh well.

I think I saw Bally's for $50 a night. How bad is that? I know Scorcho said a 5, but is it trashy or decent?

I thought PH was ugly as sin! The Alladin was over the top, but for whatever reason it worked. PH seemed like they exploded their lame restaurant all over the casino.

Wife wants to stay at the Signature. She's calling it a belated Valentine's Day gift

Looking forward to it, although it's way more than I wanted to spend. Oh well.
