Pitch your coop game ideas here.
I love a game with well designed coop play. I have been obsessed with Left 4 Dead and thought it was the perfect game to have coop. Zombie hordes attacking a few survivors, and if you don't work as a team you really cannot survive in that game.
I'm sure many people have envisioned a game like that previously, and now it's been made. So what else are you guys hoping to one day see out of a coop game?
I guess we can also discuss fun coop games from the past, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what you people are hoping to see in the future.

I would like to see a "Mission Impossible" type co-op game where you have a group of players who are working on a team, but not all together physically. Each player is a "specialist" and has their own set goals in order to make the team succeed, and everything has to be carefully coordinated.
For example, you have a guy on the top level of a building turning off the alarm momentarily so a guy on the bottom level can sneak inside. That sort of thing.

That sort of game would be fun, but I'd prefer to see it in a Shadowrun wrapper myself Adding in the decking and astral plane would make it a lot of fun.
An updated version of Mech Warrior w/ the same sort of multiplayer as L4D would be fun too.

I like that idea Groucho.
I would like larger sports game coop too. How bout an 11 on 11 football game where everyone has a player. Probably good to rotate the positions as well so someone is not always a lineman. However with the lag problems on Madden I think this probably is a better idea than it could work in actual practice. It would also eliminate that "fucking Madden switched me to the wrong guy" problem.

I like the M:I type game. That'd be a lot of fun, especially if you had classes and it had RPG-style progression of skills over time.

I like Groucho's idea. In a similiar realm, I wouldn't mind seeing a "heist" type game. Players are a bunch of criminals coming together to take down certain things; banks, casinos, armored cars, mansions, etc. On the flipside you could be cops, fbi, etc trying to catch these guys.

I agree with the topic though, I would rather play w/ my buddies online then anything else and coop games are tons of fun.

I also like the Mission Impossible idea. Hopefully some developer will steal that concept and run with it.
Edit: And thanks to the movies, there's a easy single-player mode in which you play as Tom Cruise and the rest of the team barely matters.

I've always wanted them to do the "X-Wing" game, but with a wing of fighters going after big capital ships, or massive group dogfights.
I know that was sort of the idea behind X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, but I think it could go to a whole new level. Maybe even pilots, co-pilots and gunners in Millenium Falcon-type ships to support the smaller fighters. And if there weren't enough people, then they would be AI controlled.
I think a Star Wars game that got back to the dogfighting would do really well.

Aliens with 4-8 player co-op play as Space Marines. A "Horde" level with Xenomorphs attacking in waves would kick ass. They could also take inspiration from Left 4 Dead and have Space Marine and Xenomorp Versus.

I've never gotten around to playing that. I'll check it out.
Nah, not some dopey thug running around causing havoc. I'd want to see stuff like cat burgulars, the muscle, safe crackers, drivers, the masterminds. Sort of a Left 4 Dead game with scenarios like Ocean's 11 (casino), The Italian Job (big heist), Heat (bank/armored cars), Out of Sight (home invasions) etc..

As far as I know the next gen console version of Aliens/Colonial Marines is still coming out sometime later this year. The preview article I read last year was hinting at some multiplayer/online functionality, but of course it was still in development. Anyone heard anything to the contrary?
