F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

The demo's out now on 360 and PS3. Who's tried it? Anyone getting this game? Release date is February 10th.

I'm not sure what to think of it yet. It seemed like long stretches of walking with a few short patches of shooting. I liked the selection of guns. The mech stuff was ok. And I thought the controls were pretty good.

There were a few spooky moments. But most of the spooky stuff seemed forced, like they were hitting you over the head with it. Maybe if they toned it down, then the genuinely spooky scenes would have more impact.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I posted heads up in the 360 thread and I downloaded it but I haven't played yet. I also just started playing FEAR 1 and so far it hasn't impressed me. So I'm hoping FEAR 2 will grab me.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I played a little bit of FEAR 1 in the PC when it was released. It was really good.

I never played the console port, mostly because I read that it was on par with the PC.

I'm hoping this time that the game was developed at the same time for PC and consoles we have a better game. I already downloaded the demo for both the PS3 and Xbox, but I haven't tried it.

What difficulty are you playing on.

Because the only real impressive thing about Fear1 was it's enemy AI, and they're dumbed-down on lower difficulty settings.

I liked the effects/powers that you have, when the game was released in the PC it was all new and innovative.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I really enjoyed the original PC game, and will likely pick this one up. I haven't decided which console though, any word if one will have a leg up on the other?

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

So far I only made it to the street fight with the soldiers then I had to quit but Shit! The demo was creepy as hell. I'll give them credit because I was playing around 2p and I was still getting a bit nervous and freaked out when the supernatural shit hit the fan. Anyway, I'm still not a fan of the way it feels in terms of being a FPS but who knows, maybe when the game is down to $10 or $20 maybe I'll pick it up.

Same here. I like the parts where everything starts flying around. Although I think Silent Hill/The Ring little dark haired girl thing is a bit cliche.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I enjoyed the original on PC and that is saying a lot. I typically don't play FPS games, but the enemy AI was unlike anything I had dealt with before though they really didn't ever go anywhere interesting with the girl aspect.

I tried the new demo and it was cool, but I am still completely unable to play a shooter on a console (I was unable to complete the demo without dying on Easy). I may give the PC version a try down the road, but doubt it happens anytime soon due to my current gaming backlog.

I was a fan of the first game. Played the demo on Steam, and it was fun. I'll be picking this up when it's released.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

Yeah, I tried the demo in the Xbox and it's really scary. And I was playing in the afternoon, my wife was in the room playing in the computer, and I still was tense...

I would like to try it at night, alone.

But still, not a $60 game for me. Maybe $40 or $30. With KZ2, and lot of DLC for two little games called GTA4 and Fallout 3, I don't think I'll have a lot of time for new games in the next couple of months.

That's not what the developers said:
For enemies, difficulty primarily affects how much damage they can sustain and how much they inflict. Their behavior isn't really affected, because we wanted players to get the full experience regardless of how skilled they might be.
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/fe...reviews&page=2

My theory: their tactics are balanced for the hardest difficulty settings, but those same tactics are less effective on the lower difficulty settings where they're less resilient.

Agreed. Loved the first one, this one looks like it's going to be a great follow-up.

Cool demo (with a much higher than average frame rate), but will the final game not allow on-demand saving?

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

If you also add Shellshock 2 you can get both shipped for $60.68 + tax.

Any thoughts on Shellshock 2 (since I already ordered them both)?

I feel the same way. I remember I got to play a bit of the first and enjoyed it except for the stuff with the little girl. I don't find dark haired girls with stringy hair over their face creepy at all.

In face, although the gameplay footage I've seen of the sequel looks great, all the ads keep killing my interest with their focus on the little girl angle. It's weird to see ads actually kill the interest in what looks like a fun game.

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

In honor of Friday the 13th, I just picked up F.E.A.R. 2 (PS3).

Actually, I hadn't really considered getting this game until I had a little sumpin' sumpin' left over in trade-in credit. The gameplay looks stellar, and the mech suit sequences look fantastic. Will make for a great triple play with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2!

Re: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just beat the campaign and was wondering if anyone has this game and wouldn't mind helping me get the online trophies? I've only come across a few ppl playing this game online and the games are usually full already.
