Re: Amazon (Deal of the Day) 1/21: Extras Complete Series $14.99
Was about to bite since I've only got a R2 copy of the first series and have been wanting to get the R1 versions, but then I remembered Amazon is going to charge me tax and shipping, so it just doesn't feel like such a great deal any more. Meh.

For anyone looking for something else to get to the $25 (for free shipping) I recommend "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!: Season 2". It's $14.99 for pre-order and is released on Feb.10

I've never seen this show other than the Patrick Stewart "I've seen everything. I've seen it all." clip, which was hysterical. Is it all of this consistency?

for those that already own this...how exactly is it packaged? just like the picture with the 3 individual releases housed separately in the box?

riot - yes it's just all the individual sets in a box. I don't own it but I have seen it at best buy and pictures of the set. What I don't remember is if it is open on the side like most or opens at the top. When it was first released, the main draw of the complete set was for the series finale which had not had it's own separate release. Since then it has been released on it's own (after many complaints from those that had bought the first 2 seasons).
I highly recommend it, especially if you like the humor of "The Office" (US and UK) and "Curb Your Enthusiasm".

I have this set and I recommend everyone buy it for 14.99. I paid 31 or so when it was first released and still think it's worth every penny. It is just the individual releases in a cardboard slipcase that's open on one side.

Amazon has the individual season sets for $19.99 each and the finale is $11.99.
$14.99 vs. $51.97 Sounds like a great deal to me.

Yes, it is. and while Gervais and co. were entertaining, I thought the best parts were the celebs spoofing themselves: Stewart, Orlando Bloom "everyone finds me attractive", horny little Daniel Radcliffe... and of course the yummy Kate Winslet.

Sir Ian McKellan has a hilarious cameo as well. My only concern is that the US versions aired on HBO differ slightly from the original UK versions. Some UK references are replaced by American references and I think it hurts the jokes. Personally, I'd rather have the R2 versions.

Good show. The finale was a mixed bag. It's a decent conclusion to the series, but it's also a pretentious piece of shit.

I loved the series. A lot. I blind bought this soon after it was released for around $25. The finale, however, just didn't do it for me. I didn't like it much at all. The series itself makes this deal more than worth it, though.

Re: Amazon (Deal of the Day) 1/21: Extras Complete Series $14.99
Fan-F*ckin'-tastic deal. Ive been waiting on this for a looong time since I already had the 1st season. So I would have got this at the same price even if it only had the 2nd season and the special. Now I can sell my season 1 and make a few bucks as well.
Also picked up the 4th season of LOST for only $29.99 which is the price Ive been waiting for it to hit since early last month.
Thanks very much OP.

I thought I read that Gervais was planning on doing 1 more season, but where he and Maggie came to Hollywood to be Extras....anybody remember reading this? I'm fairly certain I wasn't hallucinating it...

I knew 27.xx was too much to pay during their last "sale".
Purchased with no regret. (Blind Buy -- but how can you go wrong with Ricky Gervasis?)

Gervais Plans Extras Special
19 November 2008 3:57 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news
Ricky Gervais is working on a one-hour special of his hit TV comedy Extras - despite previously announcing he had no plans to return to the show.
The Office funnyman Gervais made two series of the popular BBC show, which featured A-list cameos from Kate Winslet, David Bowie and Orlando Bloom.
But although he wrapped the series in 2007, Gervais has drafted a "rough storyline" for an episode in which his character Andy Millman tries his hand at acting in Hollywood.
He tells British talk show This Morning, "We said we probably wouldn't, we never said never, like The Office. I miss Extras more than The Office and also, I think it's got more legs than The Office.
"We can go anywhere with it. We never ended it like The Office, it was quite open-ended."
And the star realises he "has a lot to beat" with his forthcoming project - because he managed to sign guest stars including Robert De Niro to guest in the last series.
He adds: "I've got my sights set on a few people. Al Pacino, I've got a good idea for. I bumped into Danny DeVito and Michael Douglas at the (Joe) Calzaghe fight in New York. I said, 'So do you want to do Extras? And he (DeVito) went 'Yeah' - and I said, 'That's legally binding'."

I doubt that. Gervais and merchant made this for HBO originally I believe, so I would think what we saw on HBO and on the Region 1 sets is the original material. There were some jokes i remember hearing where it sounded like it wasn't intended for American audiences, but for British television. Didn't stop them though.

Great price, I would take advantage of this but I already bought this set for $22 during last month's Best Buy HBO sale.
Oh well

Why did I never hear that he is considering doing another special. Great news.

Re: Amazon (Deal of the Day) 1/21: Extras Complete Series $14.99
lastdiplomat is correct. There were about 4 or 5 minor changes in dialogue (one prop - the kramer doll substituted). I know one was references to Eastenders characters by first name basis, another was a British journalist (Katie Couric was used as the replacement). Like I said very minor, nothing that changed the humor or worth getting the other region dvd over.
I really hope he does more - I guess we'll have to settle on an additonal hour. Would be great if he could do 6 more episodes though.

The region 2 finale dvd has several extras, including a commentary.
