The Unit title sequence question
Anyone get the original opening title sequence for the Unit? There's an explosion and then you see the "film sprockets". Some sort of artsy thought that the stories are so powerful?
Bonus question...i'll be intentionally vague...why did they get rid of that major character a two seasons ago? Did the producers ever speak to that...? To make it more realistic and show that anyone is vunerable? Or were there other reasons -that had nothing to do with the actual story. One less character? Making it cheaper. Or whatever.

You mean why did they get rid of Hector (Demore Barnes)?
Shawn Ryan said it was a creative decision to kill him off.
Your 1st question doesn't make any sense.

Re: The Unit title sequence question
Yes, I did mean Hector. Was being vague to avoid spoilers.
Do you recall the first seasons credit sequence? Hard to explain...you seem the guys in a hallway (or somewhere) and there is an explosion...then the picture shakes and you see the film sprockets - as if the show were being projected from a project and fell off the spool.

I don't think you had to worry about spoilers with Hector. Most of the people here who follow it in this forum like myself are already caught up with the current season.
I liked Hector, but I like Bridget Sullivan (Nicole Steinwedell) more.
I thought the opening credits from season 1 were cool. Sure it's a little artsy, but why does it matter?

What was your opinion on what they were trying to say by see the sprockets. Trying to indicate that the show wasn't exactly what you thought it might be?

Honestly, I have no idea. I think your over-analyzing such a small and insignificant detail of the show.

Re: The Unit title sequence question
Are title sequences even prepared by the creative people behind the show? I know movie trailers are usually cut by a totally different team, and I have always figured that the same went for title sequences on TV.

I just figured Ryan was trying to be "edgy" like the opening to The Shield. If you want to talk about the opening credits though I think the main thing is the new opening "song" as opposed to the old cadence. I have to say I prefer the old one myself.

I love the original title sequence more as well, and actually it was during the first and second seasons. The new 'song' didn't come around until season 3.

Re: The Unit title sequence question
The thing that bugs me about the new song is the line that goes "give me a reason to walk the fire" because I always think the line should be "give me a reason to walk the line" since that rhymes with the previous line in the lyrics "give me a sign". Every time I hear it, it sounds "wrong" to me.

Re: The Unit title sequence question
The changes that get made for these sorts of marketing reasons is precisely why I wonder how much the creator has to do with the title sequence.
