Photobucket

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Eric's contract is reviewed in the third-season finale. Meanwhile, Billy and Mindy's wedding day arrives; Tyra awaits word on her wait-list status; Matt prepares to leave for college; and Tim and Lyla consider their future.

This is it! Now hopefully the re-airs do well on NBC.

Has NBC even hinted about when they're going to replays these? I want to watch them in HD even if the episodes are trimmed down a little.

Even though Friday night is often considered a death slot, I think it could work for this show. I can't tell you how many times I've told people about it and their first question is, "When is it on? Friday night?" It's just natural to think that given the title, I guess.

So...will this be up against Terminator then? Or Dollhouse?

Here is a little TV Guide blurb from back in December about Aimee Teegarden.

It may be considered very minor spoilerage, but it might not be a good sign.

I don't take that to be a bad sign. She's under contract w/ FNL, it's now in hiatus so she's got a another acting gig while waiting. KC does films during his hiatus.
I don't think her doing a guest shot on another show means that FNL is definitely over. I just think she's doing some acting gigs while on hiatus.

I'm not up on all the ratings, but I'm pretty sure BH 90210 isn't doing so great either.

Having her on 90210 helps the chances of FNL if fans like her.

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

Well, somebody called the East Dillon thing last week, didn't they?

Sure doesn't seem very likely that something like that would happen, even with a rich donor like McCoy. Especially in a place like Texas where HS football is bigger than anywhere in the country. I would imagine in the real world one of the rival nearby schools would've snatched him up for a pretty penny? To state 2 out of 3 years, with a championship and a final second loss? And they shitcan him? If anything, he deserved a raise...

But I realize it's TV, and should make for damn good drama if there's a season 4. Where was Buddy in that whole process? They showed him, but never really had him voicing his opinion. I've gotta believe he'll eventually end up with Taylor at East Dillon.

No real surprises out of the rest of the storylines, but nice feel-good stuff.

And how could they not if they show off her assets like they did tonight?

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

That was clearly tv drama overreach there. No way, even in west Texas, that a coach who takes his team to 2 out of 3 state finals (1 win) would be canned. Even if there was a rich dude with a QB-son with a golden arm pulling strings. Did people forget that JD shit the bed in the title game? But I'll live with it, if it gets a S4.

I really don't understand the whole thing with Matt either.

Here's a pretty good article w/ the Ex Prod./Head Writer sharing his thoughts on the season finale.

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

If this was the series finale, I didn't really like it, and I've been a big fan since the beginning. Coach deserved way better than that, and I just didn't buy it or like it. Now, IF there's another season (longshot), and that has the Coach going up against McCoy in rival games, etc., that'd be darn cool.

The rest of the stuff was nice fluff ("They've kept your spot open at Vanderbilt!"), though I agree the whole Matt thing was just plain odd--Suddenly we learn he's a genius artist, good enough to get into the Art Institute of Chicago School, but then at the last second he changes his mind to stay home with Grandma, even though she's already got a nice new place to live. Really?

That visit to the admission guy was the perfect setup for a Tyra nude scene.

Seems like Matt pissed his life away.

I thought Buddy and Eric would have a trick up his sleeve. Like he will coach East Dillon and Buddy managed to screw with redistricting enough to get all the great players. Like at the end of Any Given Sunday.

I had almost the same exact thoughts.

I had thought if this was a real cheesy soap, the admissions scene would have involved Tyra getting under that admissions dude's desk.

I already mentioned the Matt storyline making no sense.

Then I too thought of Any Given Sunday, however, I figured that once he learned of the coaching shenanigans, Coach would take the cross-town job prior to a board meeting that would extend his Dillon contract.

I figure if there is a S4, you'll see JD's mom and dad separate and she takes JD and moves to a residence on the East Dillion side of the line.

I was befuddled about the sudden art interest too.. but then someone reminded me that it was mentioned in season one.. Street tells Coach that Matt isn't your typical athelete because he draws and is into books and poetry.

Great finale. I ain't ashamed to admit tearing up towards the end, but it felt right for the characters. If it comes back they have a new way to re-invent the show, but if this is it, it was a wonderful 3 seasons (albeit truncated in season 2 and 3).

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

Great finale to a Great Season.

I liked Billy's final heart to heart moment with Tim at the wedding encouraging him to go to College.

I thought Tyra finally getting into Texas was bittersweet, even though it was predictable. Same goes with Tim encouraging Lyla to attend Vanderbilt.

Matt's decision to blow off College and take care of his Grandma puzzled me. But, I can see why he did it. So, he's going to continue to work at the Hamburger/Ice Cream joint?

The final moment with Eric and Tami at East Dillon was a very moving moment. I think this episode could work as a series finale. I think the grand scheme of the episode is that the future is uncertain for everyone and I think that works.

If there is a season 4, I think Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, and Aimee Teegarden are definitely a lock to return as regulars. The rest of the cast will probably return as guest stars similar to what they did with Scott Porter and Gaius Charles this season.

I can see Matt help coach the East Dillon Lions next season.

Honestly, I think the reason they kept Matt around was because he has connections and strong storylines with Julie and Landry. With Coach leaving Dillon, they still need connections with those characters. Keeping Matt around allows them to still follow those characters strongly.

I thought it was the best wrap-up for all the principle characters that they could probably do in 45 minutes. I didn't like all of them, but if it turns out to be the series finale, at least we got closure and not some huge cliffhanger.

Yep. I just think it would have been a much more natural fit for Riggins to stay than Matt, which just made no sense to me (except for the playing with the tatas reason). And for Riggins to grow into an adult by being an assistant coach to Coach.

So was Landry not a senior? I guess they are fiddling around with the class grades again.

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

I was blown away by most of the episode. Amazing TV. Especially Teagarden, she has really grown(no not like that) as an actress. When Matt walked Grandma to the home, I got choked up. The dancing scenes at the wedding reception just seemed real.

Too many scenes with people telling a loved one how much they believed in them. Yeah it's a theme in the episode, but it was a bit cheesy after the third.

The Lyla / Tim scene was some of the worst acting the show has delivered. Especially from Tim ..errrr Taylor. That smirk is holding him back from delivering any range, even if it is part of his character.

Re: Friday Night Lights -- Season 3 Finale -- "Tomorrow Blues" -- 1/14/09

God, please let them do another season. This season was pretty good... closer in quality to the 1st season than S2 was. I have to witness the obvious, but oh so satisfying State final between Dillon and E. Dillon, and see Taylor victorious over that smug fuck. Puttin them in the state final would be a big stretch, but fuggit I'd still enjoy it.
