Damages -- "Burn It, Shred It, I Don't Care" -- 1/14/09

Damages 2

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Patty decides to take Purcell's case, even though he refuses to tell her everything about it. She also wriggles out of the child-malnutrition suit, leaving Tom in charge of it and frustrating Ellen (not to mention agents Harrison and Werner). In a flash-forward, Ellen has a liaison with Wes Krulick (Timothy Olyphant). Claire Maddox: Marcia Gay Harden. Purcell: William Hurt. Wayne: Brett Cullen.

Anyone think that Rose Byrne has lost some weight since season 1? I just noticed how skinny she was in the 1st episode.

Definitely lost weight. Guess she is keeping with stereotypes of the majority of women in Hollywood.

-----

I was just thinking about something --- I hope they explain why Pete hasn't caught Ellen and the Feds meeting up. I don't believe they are exactly keeping a profile low enough to hide from the (seems to be) smart Pete.

I thought that myself. I'll bet Patty will know about Ellen all along, but we won't find out she knows for a while.

I recall that Patty had a bunch of spies working for her in season 1, including the man who killed David. Ellen is going to get caught sooner or later.

I'm hoping the weight loss is just for this character.

Wait..weren't the men that bashed David's head with the statue of Liberty bookends/weights hired by Frobisher (one turned out to be a corrupt cop/investigator)??

Yeah your right. I got mixed up with the guy hired by Patty to kill Ellen.

This show already has me guessing about all the twists and turns season two will take us on. I really don't think that Nye is being completely honest with Ellen and have my doubts about the authenticity of the two 'FBI' agents. I really don't think Ellen is questioning Frobisher or Hughes in six months, either.

Everything after the last commercial break was splendidly creepy.

Initially thought the Wes guy was planted by Patty or Pete to spy on Ellen..not so sure now..

What was with the awkward exchange & glance between Purcell and Patty's son?

Damn I luv this show - wHo is playing wHo?

I started wondering that last week with her numerous meetings with the Feds.

Great twists and turns though.

I love the show, but it looks like crap not being in HD. The Shield (and other non-HD shows) never really bothered me, but Damages looks horrible. Besides that, it makes no sense for it not to be HD, since it seems to be shot 16x9.

Really? Maybe I need to remove my season pass and re-add it. Maybe it's still recording it from the FX SD feed instead of FX HD. On DirecTV, they are the same channel numbers, but the SD one is "hidden" if you have an HD receiver. I also record Nip/Tuck, and it records in HD. Both Season Passes are left over from last season, so I just figured Damages wasn't in HD for some reason. I even searched for Damages in the guide, and it didn't have the HD tag next to it, like most HD shows do.

Weird, I have Comcast and as is normal for cable, have a separate channel for FX HD. There is a very noticeable difference on Damages between the SD and HD.

This show is right up there with Lost in how many questions and 'wtf' moments are raised in each episode. This single episode alone...woah.

Another really good episode. The end with the reveal about Daniel was definitely up there with this show's WTF moments.

Yea only this is done well and actually makes sense.

Though Olyphants reveal as following the case and with all the guns seemed a little too out there for me. I hope they give a good explanation behind it.

Catching up on the DVR... just watched last week's episode.

I was thinking she looked skinny after the first episode of the season but last week's sealed it! She doesn't just look skinny. She looks anorexic. My wife said the same thing. Her arms are just skin and bones. Doesn't even look healthy to me.

The episode was good. Definitely raising a lot of questions and the twists and turns are already coming.

She's a really attractive girl, but she needs to eat more. She looks just as bad as Angelina Jolie in Wanted.
