Super Bowl Advertising (Transformers 2, Star Trek, G.I. Joe + More)
Looks like it will be a better year than last year: Super Bowl Advertising
Variety confirms that Paramount will premiere the first footage from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen during SuperBowl XLIII on February 1st 2009, forgoing the traditional theatrical teaser trailer route. Other high profile film advertising spots might include Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Angels and Demons, Monsters vs. Aliens (90-second 3D trailer), Land of the Lost, Fast and Furious, Up, Race to Witch Mountain, and Wolverine.
It’s odd that Warner Brothers has not bought any television spots with such high profile releases like Terminator Salvation, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Watchmen.
In February Academy Awards will allow film advertising for the first time in the first time in Oscar telecast history, and many expect the premiere of exclusive trailers during that telecast as well.
The Superbowl airs on February 1st. What trailers do you want to see?

Out of those, I'm most interested in 'G.I.Joe' and 'Land of the Lost'. I'm curious to see how they're approaching them with regards to look and tone since I haven't really heard much on-set stuff.

Yeah I've heard G.I. Joe is awful from someone that saw a very early footage. I'm really interested in Land of the Lost. I don't know if it's going to be more of a comedy or adventure. It's by the guy that directed Lemony Snicket so I have hope.

I actually fully anticipate GI Joe to be terrible, about on par with Transformers, but like a total DA I'll still see it anyway.

It depends if Stephen Sommers gets the tone right for GI Joe... If it's Deep Rising/The Mummy Sommers who shows up, I have hope.... but it will probably be Van Helsing Sommers who shows up Looking forward to all of these ads... I'm sure the Watchmen lawsuit is part of the reason Warner is a no show here...

G.I. Joe is still coming out? Talk about zero hype. Maybe this will help.
