I think that I am going to ignore the preview until the full book comes out. I usually skip all of those type of teasers at the end of novels as well. I'll definitely pick this up though, as I've read all of his "legal thrillers" (and most of his other stuff).

So has anyone else read this? I'd be interested to find out what others thought of it.

There is no 'a' in 'definitely.' (Sorry, but literacy should be promoted in a book forum!)

I liked the first 3/4, but I wish it hadn't ended so abruptly, to much setup and not enough pay off, but a good fast read nonetheless.

I thought the ending deserved better as well. We have no idea who/what/where Bernie is/who hired him/works for, etc. It just up and ended. I am a bit surprised at this type of ending considering Grisham's other novels. Maybe Grisham should plan to revisit this story with a sequel with the same characters after five years pass by with Bernie finding some more dirt to ruin him.

I agree about the non-ending. It was a weak way to end the book, and I certainly hope it wasn't done with the intentions of prolonging the story over another novel. It's like Grisham thought up a story and didn't bother with coming up with an ending, so he left it open. I can now understand the many negative reviews it got on Amazon.

Weak. Typical of the last few Grisham books, with a pretty solid story throughout, but a horrible and unsatisfying ending. He just doesn't know how to end books. This may be my last one.

^ I agree. I thought it started out strong with the opening chapters, but quickly lost momentum and never fully recovered. Grisham's latest is a small collection of short stories -- have not yet read it.
