Moulin Rouge (Luhrmann), Region 2, different versions

Hi!

Sorry if this has been asked before, but a friend could order me from amazon.co.uk soon (and thanks to Australia I am in Luhrmann mood again), and I haven't bought Moulin Rouge yet...because I never knew what was the best version in case of extras and quality etc.

I am thinking between these two now:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moulin-Rouge...1182441&sr=1-3

Just the amazon review writes extras:
On the DVD: this double-disc package sets new standards of presentation while also having an ideally appropriate light-heartedness. The extra features are as inventive in their use of the format as the film itself. Highlights include not one but two commentaries--one by Luhrmann, his designer and his cinematographer, the other with Lurhmann and his fellow scriptwriter Craig Pearce. We get two videos of "Lady Marmalade" and there are also uncut dance numbers, for example the fabulously dark Tango sequence in all its detail, which come with alternate camera angles so that you can edit your own version. There are whole segments on the glittery costumes, the three-dimensional model of Paris and the transformation of Kylie Minogue into the Green Fairy of absinthe. The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen (formatted for 16:9 TVs) with a visual aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and has lush, velvety Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 sound options.

And the other one (this has Hungarian subs, and I am Hungarian, but the Hungarian subs are not essential):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moulin-Rouge...1182441&sr=1-5

(and there is also a third one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moulin-Rouge...1182441&sr=1-6 )

It would be great if sy could help !

Thanks in advance: Invierno

I have the double 2DVD SE Fox edition. Can you play NTSC discs, if yes, I suggest that you opt for the NTSC release as music is an integral part of this film and the PAL speed-up is definitely something you would notice. The US 2DVD is also quite well done in terms of extras. (Send me a PM).

Off-topic, but if you are Hungarian, maybe you can tell us a good source for Taxidermia.

I thought the US edition has a DTS out of synch issue.

Well, there is a single-disc and two-disc version, I saw that it has English subs, but I think it is only for the film... (no I wasn't right, bc on the official page they write there are also subs to the How it was made, and also Táltosember vs Ikarus. )

Here is link to the Hungarian distributor's site:
http://portal.budapestfilm.hu/hazimo...d7b891bbbb13fe

this is the 2 disc-version

It has two types of audiocommentary, a lot of deleted scenes, how it was made (werkfilm), 2 versions of video clip of 'Erdő' (Forest),Táltosember vs Ikarus, trailer, and photo gallery. It costs 3990 Fts. Now 1 euro is 270 Fts approx.

I hope I could help, I don't know where you can order it from internet though.

Here you can write email to the distributor, Budapest Film:

Re: Moulin Rouge (Luhrmann), Region 2, different versions

Thanks for the details. Indeed, information about a reputable Hungarian internet DVD retailer would have helped a lot. I was looking into this, but from the other side of the border (for many years I lived in Oradea/Nagyvarad). My relatives living there couldn't find the Hungarian DVD releases, and they ended up sending me by mail what they could find in stores.

Then you lived very close to Hungary. I study in Budapest now.
Maybe try to write to them an email in English, you don't lose anything with it, I think.

If I happen to find a DVD retailer, I will write it here or PM.

Bye. Viszlát.
