Rob Zombie updated his MySpace blog (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=101946169&blogID=461094100) with a sneak preview of Michael Myers' new mask. Keep in mind that this isn't the finished product.

Wondering if the huge hole on the side (temple area) is where he was shot?

Interesting. Though, I don't think we can call it exclusive since he posted it on MySpace.

I dig it. The cracks and holes are a cool touch.

at least the "No mask" stuff was just a rumor.

Looks OK to me, I wonder if they'll have hair sticking through the holes or if they'll make Michael bald?

He should make it a likeness of Patrick Stewart since the original was a likeness of William Shatner-wink-

Has anybody ever said why the mask is different in every sequel/remake?

Why didn't they keep on using the Shatner mask throughout the series?

Legal reasons mostly. Don Post made the original Shatner mask and apparently he got into a legal battle with Trancas about the use of the mask in the films.

When I first heard they used a store-bought Shatner mask I wondered why they didn't get sued. They talked so freely about it, meanwhile I'm thinking I'd keep quiet about it if it were me. So, they did get busted for it?

They should just pay the man and use it! :D

I kind of like there being a new mask for each movie. My favorite so far is the mask from Halloween Resurrection.

The only movie that makes sense for there to be a new mask though is "Halloween 4" because it is a new mask. Maybe "H20" too since we assume it is new since he "blew up" in Halloween II.

But in all the other sequels, it is supposed to be the same mask as the previous movie. The dumbest looking mask so far is the one in "Halloween 5".

I don't like this design. It looks too much like a real monster rather than a mask. I really loved the sterile, emotionless look of the original Halloween mask. This one tries to hard to be scary.

I've felt that the original mask was perfect. It had no emotion at all. Which was perfect because there was no motive (original concept) as to why Michael escaped and decided to go "trick or treating".

Yeah, the mask in the remake had kind of an "angry" look to it. I liked when the original because it had a "blank" look toit which made it much scarier.

They both look like they have the exact same blank expression to me

I think it's the eyebrows.

It's hard to tell in the pic in this post.
