Fanning is a little older now but she has worked with heavyweights like Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington, and Tom Cruise.
Abigail Breslin has worked with Jodie Foster and Alan Arkin but her resume is not as polished as Dakota and she seems to play mostly the cute girl.
is their a potential Oscar for one of these girls?

Dakota Fanning. She's already proven as far as I'm concerned. Granted, she hasnt been in much lately, she still continues to deliver fantastic performances.
Abigail Breslin was great in LMS, but I have no desire to see most of the shit she has been in lately... American Girl? Nims Island? No thanks.
And yea, I think either of them are capable of an Oscar, they just need the right role.

I'd rather go with AnnaSophia Robb over Dakota or Abigail.

Exactly. I remember some reviewer mentioning the same thing and comparing her to the doll that you press the tummy and spew a different emotion. Breslin on the other hand seems very natural when acting, while Dakota can turn annoying as hell, like in War of the Worlds.
By the way, Breslin was also pretty good in No Reservations.

AnnaSophia Robb gave a lousy performance in Sleepwalking that movie with Charlize Theron.
Dakota is now a cheerleader for her high school
time goes by fast.
I think Dakota has the smarts to become another Jodie Foster when she gets older.

Julia Roberts won one and she can't act. So, yes, winning an Oscar is always possible no matter what the actual acting ability is. It really just takes appearing in one of those "important" message films that Hollywood loves to hand out awards to, no matter how good the resulting movie is (or isn't).

Actually only one more year in most states (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_the_United_States) (although California isn't one of those states).

Predicting the careers of child actresses is not something I'll even bother doing. I will say, though, that Abigail Breslin has entirely redefined "Superfreak" for all time. I can't say that I've ever seen Dakota Fanning leave a mark like that.

Dakota Fanning IS the next Jodie Foster. She has been good in everything and she is going to be good looking later. Dakota Fanning's younger sister is going to be amazing as well.
Breslin is just a freaky little demon child and she is not going to age well.

1. Ok, I'm so embarrassed to say that i would really like to see both Kit Kittredge and Nim's Island. I always walk by them at Blockbuster but then I get weirded out. I always try to justify KK:AG by reminding my self that the gorgeous and funny Jane Krakowski(30 Rock) is in it.
2. I like both actresses.

I think that Dakota Fanning is going to have the the most long standing career of the two because she hasn't stuck to just one genre of film her first major role (I am Sam) she did an amazing job while movies like Dreamer are going to go over well with family's she isn't afraid to take offbeat rolls like The Secret Life Of Bees and Houddog (both coming out on dvd Feb 3rd) they got mixed reviews but she was amazing in both. And with Push coming out soon shes going to be quite the big star in her adulthood

I know this is stating the obvious, but seeing how much Breslin has grown since LMS is just weird and makes me feel old.
Of course, that's also the last thing I saw her in (she's on Leno tonight).

Breslin. Fanning tries too hard in everything she does. It's cloying to watch.
That being said, Fanning's younger sister Elle is a great little actress. She was fantastic in "Phoebe In Wonderland." It's obvious who has the talent in that family.
