While 2008 turned out to be very good, especially with the late-year additions of Fallout 3 and L4D, I don't think it's enough to beat out Bioshock, COD4, Mario Galaxy, Rock Band, Mass Effect and The Orange Box.

2008 for me. From 2007 I liked Mass Effect and Bioshock, but Mario Galaxy has been a disappointment as I play it now. Meanwhile GTA4, Gears 2, Fallout 3, and Fable 2 have generally resulted in more fun for me.

I'm happy with 2008, but I feel like 2007 excited me more.

2007. Not even a contest really. Bioshock, Mario Galaxy and Orange Box blew away anything I played in 2008.

2007. It was the biggest gaming year since 2001.

I voted for 2008 based purely on the fact that I purchased more games than in 2007

I purchased more this winter because of all the insanely good deals. Still I vote for 2007 because Uncharted, Mass Effect, Ratchet & Clank, Halo 3, Orange Box (with Portal), Call of Duty 4 and Rock Band excited me more than Fable 2, Resistance 2, GTA IV, Gears 2, CoD World At War,Rock Band 2 (essentially more of the same) and LittleBigPlanet (which I do love with all my heart). To be fair, I haven't cracked open Fallout 3 yet, and that could be a game-changer if it's as good as some of the reviews I've read.

^ Yep. This was as solid year, but the 2007 games are all just a notch better. 2008 was a good year, 2007 was a great year.

I'm still working through my backlog of games from 2007.

And I haven't even started Galaxy yet.

I'm going with 2007 by a good margine and here's why...

GOW -even though released Nov 2006 it dominated 2007
Bioshock - Took gaming by storm and really brought out the best of the 360
COD4 - Great all-around best game of 07 and carried over the MP from COW
Mass Effect - Finally a true "Space Game" that looked great.

I purchased way more in 2008, so my vote goes to that.

2008 gets the edge for me, as it had more games that I really enjoyed. I'd say 2007 had a handful of games better than almost anything in 2008, but 2008 had more really good games than 2007. I'm pretty much comparing:

2008
Left 4 Dead
Dead Space
Call of Duty: World at War
Civilization: Revolution
Gears of War 2
Fallout 3
Fable 2
Resistance 2
GTA IV
Little Big Planet
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mirror's Edge
Lego Batman
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Boom Blox
Mario Kart Wii
No More Heroes

vs.

2007
Bioshock
Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
Halo 3
Crackdown
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Overlord
Beautiful Katamari
Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction
Zack & Wiki
Super Mario Galaxy
The Simpsons Game

2007.

But for some reason I felt overwhelmed at the end of 2008. My backlog is so huge. In 2007 I felt like I had more time to enjoy every game. Bioshock was released in August so I had at least one month to enjoy it, then Halo 3, and I bought COD4 in early December. Those were my 3 biggest games.

In 2008 in one month or something like that were released the biggest games for me, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet. And that without mentioning L4D, Saints Row 2, Soul Calibur 4, etc.

2008. MGS4 is the best game this gen, so it wins easily. LBP and Rock Band 2 aren't far behind it.

Ill go with 2008. Assassins Creed is easily the most repetitive game in a long while, Orange Box is kinda lame in my opinion, and I have tried to play Bioshock 3 times, but it never holds my attention. Halo 3 was good for mulitplayer but thats it.

This is so true it makes me hurt.

It's a toss up for me. Last year I thought there was no way it would ever be paralleled. Then this year came along. Great time to be into games, that's all I know.

2008 brought me LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, LEGO Batman: The Videogame and Mario Kart Wii. It brought my wife Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: World Tour. That bests 2007, when all that really interested us were LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
