they also had

this target is located in Van Nuys on Sepulveda by the 405 freeway

Dammit! I work in that area but am currently on vacation!

Guess I'll swing in first thing Monday morning to see if anythings left.

heres the weird thing though ... they had 3 copies on the clearence section and 2 in the regular dvd section .... our target stores in van nuys are very unorganized lol

Was just at my local Target, and these deals were not present there.

Sounds like internet returns to me. Those are completely random, and somewhat rare. Great score, though.

You can tell internet returns because they have an odd, barcode sticker on the items.

I got the Lost Video Game for $5 that way.

The prices are typically on the back of the box...not the front and not marked with a normal tag. Its all very YMMV as its up to Managers on what to clearance out...as they are not typical 'clearance' items. I've seen random DVD/BD/HDs before.

I've picked up many DVDs on clearance at Target and they are incredibly random. A few times I have noticed slight damage to the slipcase as a possible reason it was in the clearance bin.

My Target has no clearance section for DVDs ?!?!?

How is this on clearance when my targets never even had these when they came out?

My Target has no clearance section for DVDs ?!?!?

Thats because they do not clearance dvds on a regular basis
(with the exception of holiday dvds) when you see this it is returns or damages.

And to answer bigt's questions they have these because the Target site is part of the amazon network so you can order a lot more online then you can get in store, but you can return anything to the store even if they don't carry it.

sorry if i misslead some people ....

but yes it does vary from target to target ..

Ex. one target store had Gears of War for $9 bucks while all the others still carried it at retail value ...

and as for them being internet returns ... i have no idea about this they may or may not be but everytime they have something i want on clearence its always been in its original packaging... and if it looked as if it were tampered with i wont even touch it lol

but clearence sections are located all over the store in every section pretty much ... i know a few stores that have 2 sections for Games and Dvds.

i found a copy, but it rang up at 14.99. but not all was lost, i ended up getting 3 movies for 5.50 each.

a fish called wanda (2 disc)
midnight cowboy (2 disc)
rocky horror picture show (2 disc)

they were all priced at 7.50, but rang up for 5.50 each...they were the ones with the red covers, which i threw away after opening (the covers only of course)

A heads up there are more of those titles , and also a bunch of comedy central titles being put out in a few weeks and will probably be on sale at some point

I got two seasons of Garfield for $7 a piece. I believe they were seasons 4 and 5. I figured the other seasons had been sold already or something. So I went online to check the price of what I bought, and sure enough they were $20 online.

I had no idea this was the reason for the price. Or I wonder if it even was? It wasn't in a clearance section, and our Target does have one for DVDs and computer games. It was actually just in the child section of the DVDs and the price wasn't marked on the package, at least I don't remember it being there. But they had a $7.00 tag on the slot of the shelf it was sitting on, so I looked closer and it did say Garfield on it, so I knew it wasn't a mistake.

So is this most likely a return?

No, this was an actual price for those--probably dumping the later seasons no one bought after everyone went "oh boy garfield!" for three seasons then went "eh...I've got enough" but production did not slow in time.

ive been on the fence about this ... i have a feeling they'll drop the price to 5 bucks a piece ...ive already seen them for 7.50, 7, and 6.50 ...

I picked up a few DVDs earlier this year in the clearance DVD rack at my Target, but have checked everytime I've been in there and nothing. They even had one I picked up on the rack for full price so it's a big YMMV.

The OP was probably lucky to have gotten these.

I liked the first one, the second was kind of meh, is this one any better?

Same here. In fact, I didn't even realize such a thing existed until reading this thread.

You may have a clearance DVD section at your Target and not realize it. I've seen clearance sections tucked away in strange places, sometimes several aisles from the similar non-clearance merchandise.

i really thought the 3rd one was funny as hell and its nice to hear some new stories other then the same ones... if you listen to smodcast the shecky story might get boring but the Live Free or Die Hard one is a classic lol

this is true ive even noticed that they'll leave the dvds where they are suppose to be and they'll have a little red tag over the original price thats on the rack saying "clearence"

my advice is to just walk around the dvd section or even ask an employee where the clearence section is...

This one seemed less organized and the first dvd of the two is essentially one question but if you are in to Smith it is totally worth it

Definately worth it. My wife and I are still watching it (so far we've gone through the first disk and then the completed Die Hard story on the second one.) The Shecky story had us in tears we were laughing so hard. The Die Hard story has been very fun as well.

I absolutely love the first two... havent gotten around to this yet. Hopefully my Target reduces the price soon.
