I got an e-mail alert from Borders today that's just what the title of this thread says. You get 30% off all CD's and DVD's in store. "No coupon needed. No limits! Includes box sets, TV on DVD & Blu-ray discs! While supplies last. No rain checks, special orders, or reservations. Selection varies by store. Offer not valid at Waldenbooks, Borders Express, and selected Borders stores.*"
"*Offer not valid at Borders stores in these metro areas: Tucson, AZ; Monterey, CA; Salinas, CA; Grand Junction, CO; Atlanta, GA; Augusta, GA; St. Petersburg, FL; Tampa, FL; Boise, ID; Evansville, IN; Lafeyette, IN; Bangor, ME; Billings, MT; Bozeman, MT; Butte, MT; Missoula, MT; Greensboro, NC; Winston-Salem, NC; Columbus, OH; Dayton, OH; Tulsa, OK; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; Parkersburg, WV; Eau Claire, WS."
Okay, you've got me. I started a thread when this already existed. Since, however, the sale doesn't involve any actual coupon, perhaps I get a pass for potentially bringing this to the attention of some of our forum friends who might not check the Borders coupon thread?

I'll be curious to see if anyone gets any real "deals" out of this, since the 30% comes off the list price, not any sale prices. (Sorry, OP - truly don't mean to t.c., but trying to find a deal at Borders, especially where dvds are involved, is often a full-scale exercise in futility). :(

I agree. I bought some foreign films that I've been meaning to get. Some were a couple dollars cheaper than amazon. Overall this is an opportunity to purchase things that one might get at Amazon without the wait.

If your taste runs toward the mainstream and the modern (not saying yours does, mind you) this will generally be the case.
As noted above, those with more peculiar tastes will find some things at prices that don't require waiting for an online-only retailer sale--things you don't see in other stores.
