Need help choosing between two games

New Xbox owner here.

I love RPGs, so both of these games are RPGs.

Should I get Fable 2 which is on sale for 44.99 at Best Buy? Or get Mass Effect, which is on sale at Blockbuster.com for 20.xx?

Hmmm. They're both good games. Mass Effect is deeper, Fable 2 is more straightforward and more fun to just mess around with. I'd probably pick Mass Effect since it's got a much more interesting story and a more interesting protagonist, but I'd caution it might be frustrating. I freakin hate the combat with your vehicle. Compared to that transport vehicle, the Warthog controls like an exotic car in Burnout.

I would bypass them all and go for the best game of the year Fallout 3. If for some insane reason you hate fun or have already played that one then i would go with Mass Effect. I have played all 3 and think that Fable 2 is the worst of the 3. It is still a good game but of the 3 it is my least favorite.

I agree with this advice. I would also recommend picking up Oblivion. It's a couple of years old at this point, but if you haven't played it, it's new to you, and it's arguably the best RPG ever made for any console.

Another vote for Mass Effect. By the time you finish it, Fallout and Fable will be cheaper.

The right answer is Oblivion and if you want a sci-fi-ish RPG, Fallout 3.

However, Mass Effect is not a bad pick and definitely a great budget option.

I'm in the minority but I couldn't stand Mass Effect. WAAAAAAAY too much exposition, not enough storyline. "Blah blah blah blah."

I'm with you. I loved KotOR and i loved Jade Empire so Mass Effect seemed like it would be right up my alley. Nope. Still need to finish it to see if i can puzzle out what the big deal is.

I didn't like Fable at all so i have yet to give Fable II a shot.

Oblivion should be found for very cheap and it was a wonderful game that i spent over 90 hours playing.

If you're more of a story kind of guy, go for Mass Effect.

If you like action and diversions, Fable 2 is your bag.

If you like a huge sandbox with lots to explore, Oblivion/Fallout 3 should be your choice.

I picked up Fallout 3 and Mass Effect today.

I tried to find Oblivion :GOTY, but it was either not in stock, or they still had the high price on it (59.99).

There is a tab called *beta* games.

I had to manually search through the Xbox360 games (as I couldn't figure out where to search games was that actually worked).

Sadly the 30% off code expired. I believe there is now a 20% code though.

I haven't played through F2 yet, but Mass Effect is definitely worth $20 regardless.

Late to the thread, but make sure you got Fallout 3 at Target (or pricematched) since it's already down to $40 there. It's a steal at $60...

Re: Need help choosing between two games

What's the cheapest price anyone has seen for Oblivion (PS3) (the greatest hits, not the game of the year edition). I saw a new copy for $22.99 and was wondering if that was a good enough deal ...

FYI, Mass Effect is now $14.99 used at blockbuster which makes it available for the B1G1 deal on all used $14.99 and under

Is the $29.99 for the regular edition or the GOTY edition, though? I saw the regular edition for $24.99 at HMV and $22.99 at Blockbuster. I'm in Canada though.

I see Amazon.com has the GOTY edition for $29.99 and the regular edition for $19.99 ...
