Rumor: Circuit City selling 360 120GB HDD for $80

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/12...gb-hdd-for-80/

Posted Dec 18th 2008 6:00PM by Richard Mitchell

According to posters at the Slick Deals forum, Circuit City is currently selling the 120GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 at the staggeringly reduced price of $80. These puppies normally sell for twice that price, so it's one heck of a deal. There is a small catch though: you'll have to hoof it over to your local Circuit City if you want to get your hands on one, the deal is nowhere to be found online. In fact, we can't even find the 120GB drive listed at the Circuit City website at all. The deal isn't being advertised, but several members of the Slick Deals forums have attested to its authenticity.

If anyone out there has managed to take advantage of the deal, let us know in the comments. You might want to act quickly. We don't know how long it will last.

[Via Punch Jump. Thanks Jonah.]
If this is true, good luck to those of you that want one.

Chris

These are probably mostly all sold out since they had the 120GB drive for $99 a month ago, from what I read on Cheap Ass Gamer.

Yep. It is a clearance price, and most were cleaned out long ago.

I went to quite a few stores looking for one when they were $99. Couldn't find one.

Why are all these stores clearance pricing the 120? Is it just going to be the 60GB from here on?

It is just a Western Digital drive with a special firmware. There are instructions out there on how to make your own 120 GB 360 drive for about $40.

Here's what a local friend of mine said about the deal:

Okay so Circuit City has their 120 GB HDD on sale but they are sold out and claim that no more are being made AT ALL. We had them print off their computer screen that showed the UPC and price and had the manager sign, date and write Circuit City on it.

We then took that to Best Buy and they priced matched it with out batting an eye.

UPC: 882224460941

This UPC matches Best Buy's UPC too so that is how they match it.

50% off a lot of Hard Drive. Not sure how long they price will be this way, but if you need more space, jump on this.
