Thanks for the replies. I went with the Best buy deal. $229 for a 8 gig and it includes a free $50 gift card and spore game card.

I would wait until the January 11 Mac Show again as they usually have announcements, maybe an upgrade, lower prices or new models.

Best Buy has the 16gb 2nd generation for $220 plus a $15 itunes card - I don't really need 16gb, as 8 would be plenty for my purposes, but is this a deal worth biting on? They seem to be going for over $220 on ebay...but again, maybe it's worth waiting for a better deal on the 8gb for a few weeks?

I'm assuming the 8gb & 16gb are otherwise identical?

EDIT: Actually, looking now, it's the 1st generation 16gb. Probably not worth it? Amazon has the 2nd gen 8gb for the same $220.

Is this deal still available? I can't find it for the life of me.

i think the deal expires last week. if you can find a 1st gen 8 gig ipod touch @ fye or sam goody, they're selling the 1st gen touch for $249.99 with $150 Mail in rebate.
