I've been quite pleased with both the MUSICALS and the MYSTERIES collection. Both of these include primarily pre-1953 films, so there are no pan-and-scan concerns. Quality can vary from movie to movie on any of these collections, but I've found enough movies in decent shape to be satisfied with my purchase.

Lileks writes for the Star-Tribune locally (unless he's been dumped during the current economic dive), and is very funny. He's done a couple of comic novels ala Christopher Buckley, but I'm sure they're OOP.

As to Mill Creek sets, I recommend the 50-pack "Mystery Classics", "Dark Crimes" and "Crime Classics". Mostly obscure 30s-50s b&w programmers (along with some recognizable titles that have slipped into the public domain.) Great, cheap fun.

Too bad, that's the one that caught my eye. 50 slices of 80's cheese for $11.70 sounded pretty tempting. I had visions of all manner of obscure, synth-scored teen trash.
