Didn't test any of the codes on non-BRs, but the b1g1 BR appears to be unlimited. The other % off might require purchase of 1 non-BR, and it may not (that's what I didn't test). Of course, we're talking Blu-Rays here. Not anything else.

You can get Pre-Orders to work with the 805657 code, just need to fool around a bit with the order you put things in your cart (also, might have to cycle removing an item and putting it back in and then be careful because one of the items shows as free all the way to the 'submit order' page, then shows at full price. If that happens, just back up and start again until that page is correct).
I was able to order,
Dark Night (PO) and Close Encounters $29.21
Interview w/ the Vampire and Patriot Games $22.46
Shawshank Redemption and Unfaithful (PO) $26.21
Amadeus (PO) and Little Miss Sunshine (PO) $26.96
Here in Arkansas, no tax. Of course free shipping as well. Many thanks to OP for the codes.
Luck all and Happy Holidays,

Remember CH's weird way of getting codes to work sometimes.
It's not the obvious where-you-think-you-should-put-codes Promotion code field on the cart screen.
You have to click the current offer banner (whatever it may be), then click the "Looking for the offer in your mailing?" link and put the code.
That's how it got it to work for me.

Don't go down that road. If you return it, they certainly would expect you to return the freebie that came with it and CH can be difficult to deal with regarding returns. Besides, the Blade Runner set is absolutely awesome!

Cheato
12-07-08, 08:06 AM
^ Mainly because they don't want you to use the codes unless you get the email which has a link you click to get the deal. That's why BobO'Link created the "How do I enter a code?" sticky. The code area in the cart seems to be for some other kind of promotion, which has yet to rear its head on these forums.
And Pookymesiter was right, except for the word "sometimes."

Only for my copy of The Notebook (or the free Blu-Ray that was with it). "If?" 5 discs, it's a set. Some 2-disc things are "sets" to CH. Anything with 3 or more is definitely a set (except for the very recent 3-disc editions where the 3rd disc is just a digital copy, like Hulk (*) ).
the thing is even with Blade Runner in my cart I had free shipping on that order before.
Unlikely, but certainly possible, since they do have glitches sometimes. Free shipping doesn't count on sets. If it does, there will be a separate post with like 50 people in there getting all excited about it--including me. If you ever happen to notice free shipping on a set in your cart, don't walk--run to the checkout! He who hesitates is lost (or $7.99 poorer, in your case).
(*) See? Even CH thinks digital copies are worthless-they don't even bother trying to charge you extra shipping for them! :) They even charge shipping for "Game Over!"

Speed Racer BD had shipping charges because of the Digital Copy. So far that is my one regret from Columbia House. They charged me $6 for shipping that which brought my cost for Speed Racer up to $17.50... which I consider a rip-off for that movie (even more so with it lacking HD audio).

Blade Runner showed up with the other 11 items with no shipping charge. When I confirmed the order, it gave me some weird error message. When I went back and resubmitted the order that's when the $7.99 shipping showed up. There was definitely no shipping charge before. Their site was really really slow. Yeah, it was a bummer for sure. But with the other B1G1 deals I've had I feel pretty good about joining Columbia House. Even more so considering I ordered some foreign films that never go on sale, the Tom and Jerry sets, and Droopy: Complete Theatrical for my enrollment selections. But Speed Racer is in no way worth $17.50 and charging $6 shipping because of a digital copy is lame.

When I told them I had duplicated orders they went "Are you referring to the Blu-rays?", I said yes, and they said that they're looking into why it says that on accounts, but there's only really one order and no charges for the duplicates should go through, and they will fall off shortly.

Did you do anything special to get Lonesome Dove? I'm not able to get it to show up either as the FREE title or getting a second title to show up as FREE. My second title isn't a pre-order (Kung Fu Panda).

I was able to get this combo to work by placing Kung Fu Panda in the cart first. You'll get hit $2.99 shipping for Lonesome Dove.

OK, that works :) I also tried to get it with a pre-order (Mamma Mia), but couldn't get it to work. I think the pre-order is too far out (12/16), so it insists on charging for that title. However Lonesome Dove must be coded as a 2-disc box set (thus the $2.99 shipping charge) so it wants to charge for that title as well :(

Well, you have to look at it like they are shipping you the free one first and then you're paying full price down the road. If the "plug is pulled" you're likely going to end up with a copy of the movie free rather than paying and not receiving half of the deal.

Tru dat. However I really just don't like the waiting game. Waiting on something to ship to get a better price... OK. Waiting months for a movie to ship... NO THANKS.
I also never know how much is going to be on my credit card at any given time, so those "sudden charges" a couple of months from now could get hairy.
For instance right now my card is almost maxed out, and it has a very large credit line, BUT it will be payed off next month. The last thing I need is for my CC account to get screwed up because of some pre-order.
I know I could track the charges with a registry and all that, but nah.

The way I see it is that sometimes I will get a free movie in hand to enjoy while planning out my pre-order purchases over the next few months to fit into my spending budget. Either way you are still going to wait on a pre-order. You might as well take the sweet deal because you are not paying anything at the present time regardless.

This will sound sadder than it is, but figuring out that you could subscribe to forums and subforums changed my life.
I used to miss threads all the time. Skip checking a forum for a day or even less sometimes, and a thread could slip off page one and never be seen again, unless you spend even more time checking beyond page one of every subforum.
But now that I subscribe to each subforum that interests me, I never miss a thread, and have less of a chance of missing those short term bargains/glitches.
It's just one (nicely formatted and linked) email per day.

I'm half-proud and half-disappointed in myself. Half of me thinks I should have ordered more (picked up Dark Knight and Into the Wild and scored Home Alone and Harry Potter: GOB for free) but there just weren't many freebies left that I wanted -- it was all pre-orders that don't hit until Jan/Feb that I wanted for the most part. I hope they have another one in February... I will go hog wild then.

It's just one (nicely formatted and linked) email per day.I've subscribed to a thread in the past but I now use a different technique to keep track of the various threads of interest to me: I just search my user name each day and I get an ordered list of all threads I have posted in that shows which have new posts since my last visit. That way I can keep track of occasional posts in threads away from the two forums I usually frequent (one of which is this one, of course). But your technique is more effective for spotting new threads of interest in a forum that one doesn't visit very often.

A chunk of my 15 orders (paid titles) are those that come out in January and February and are titles that I would have went to a B&M and bought anyways (plus tax). So in this case I felt that it was in my and my wallets best interest to order now and pay later (mostly) and get more in return. I basically blew my Blu-Ray budget for the next few months but my shelves will certainly be full.

Anyone happen to have an unopened DVD or two from that deal.

This is a good signal the BluRay prices will fall. It is also a signal (based on my restraint of only purchasing 6 titles) that BluRay releases better have signifcant quality/features reason for me to re-buy any titles. As I was looking for more deals I found myself looking at movies I already had on DVD. Some of the bluray discs, like T2 are only slightly better than the DVD from what I have read.

I'm sure it's ok but I've noticed this with Amazon as well on their B1G1. What's the deal with this kind of crap. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to only charge the correct amount.

On another Blu-ray note, I received an email from CH on a B1G1 DVD sale. You can use a Blu-ray movie for the B1G1 but cannot get the Blu title for free. In other words, you buy a Blu-ray title, then buy a DVD. You get the DVD for free, but pay for the Blu-ray title.

The temp charge drops off in a few days to a week, depending on the credit card company.
I've never heard of being charged twice the order amount in a single charge though. If that's what you meant by "temp charge for twice the amount".

It is similar to the policy for "special" priced items such as box sets.
However, there have been several B1G1F sale offers, specifically targeted at Blu-ray Discs, that allow the use of BDs as freebies. The most recent one was earlier this month. (This thread was started by thejester on December 5th, to highlight those offers.) More such offers can be expected in the future, for those willing to be patient.

I also got an email today. Usually the Blu-Ray beats the shipped email in getting to me. I understand that there was a holdiay this week but CH seems to be way off the ball. Normally I will have a new release within a day or two of it being released. I am waiting on both Saw V and The Notebook.

I finally received my copies of The Notebook, which is the deluxe edition and at a good price, and Saw V a week after they were released. I wonder if CH is going back to shipping new releases the standard way rather than the expedited way the had been doing over the last few months.
