The Office -- "The Surplus" -- 12/04/08

Andy stepping in poo in the barn... meh.
Andy stepping in poo again but in the house...
I had a feeling that the "marriage demonstration" was the real deal. Nice to see Jim and Pam on top of their game again. Another great episode!

Meh. Another ho-humm episode for me. Pam and Jim dynamic continues to be wayyyy off. Michael Scott has become more annoying than funny, and I couldn't give a wet ratfart about the Andy/Dwight/Angela love triangle.
... although the poo in the house had me LOLing.

Maybe it was just the mood I was in, but Andy stepping in the poo in the house was the funniest thing I've seen on this show.
Loved pretty much everything about the episode (even Michael) except for Jim and Pam...again. Simply can't stand those two.

I LOL'd this episode more than any other this season. Thought they were all on the top of their game. It felt like the Office of old.

I love how everyone was humouring Michael just to get what they wanted. And he couldn't make the decision so he turned to the Security Guard.
And Oscar outsmarting him with the percentage questions was funny as well.
Pam vs. Jim was a nice change of pace as well.
I think the whole Dwight and Angela mock wedding thing was a little bit too predictable. I want them to get together, but think Dwight may have ruined it tonight. But Andy stepping in the crap an just the visual of it, so simple, and yet so hilarious.
EDIT: Am I the only one who actually feels sorry for Andy? I mean, don't get me wrong, I hate his character, but I feel bad for all that Angela has put him through and that he is so in the dark about her true feelings for Dwight.

The poo was hilarious.
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Agreed that the Dwight wedding was quite predictable, but oh well.

Ive said it before, and of course will say it again... this season has been fantastic. Perfect balance of practically everything. If this continues, it will no doubt be my favorite season thus far... surpassing Season 3 for me.

Andy straddles a line between feeling sorry for the guy and having such contempt for a guy who is blind to all he is blind to that I'm happy he's in his situation. It's really perfect. With that said, I think it's just about time to put AAD to bed as a story.

I mostly liked this episode, even if it didn't have a lot of hilarious moments. Many of this season's shows have been built around the same kinds of storylines as those from season two. That is the main reason that I think this season (so far) has been the strongest season since S2.
I do agree with TallGuyMe and whoopdido that Jim and Pam just aren't all that special an element of the show anymore. I don't precisely know why that is, but something about the way their characters have been written this season has made them come off as dull and slightly smug to me, rather than charming and endearing as they used to be.

Michael calling Toby "the silent killer" , Oscar trying to explain the surplus to Michael, everyone being nice to Michael, Jim getting back at Pam in the end.....all great stuff.
This whole season has been great...I thought the show had kinda lost a little of its touch last season but they've bounced back in a big way. It's gonna suck when they go to winter break.

Mose throwing whatever it was at the back of Andy's head was great, too. I really didn't care for Pam's outfit, thought it made her look pale and fat.

"Don't take it away!" - Pam
This was one of my favorite episodes in the entire series.
