Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Announced at Massive Event
by Eric Bush

Details on many of Activision Blizzard's upcoming titles were revealed during a joint event with in-game advertiser Massive Inc. According to MTV, Call of Duty 6 has officially been titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and is slated to arrive in fall 2009.
Furthermore, an in-game shot of Guitar Hero 5 was shown in a demonstration of Massive's in-game advertising strategy for Activision, showing a "Burger King ad to the right of the note highway."

Activision also confirmed rumors that the next Tony Hawk title will be played using some type of peripheral rather than with a controller. The skateboarding game will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS in October. An original James Bond racing title from Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations was also confirmed, set to debut next September.

I, for one, am shocked that they would make a sequel to one of the most successful games of this generation...Seriously though...this can't come soon enough.

Reminds me of the Angry Videogame Nerd's video about confusing sequels.

Call of Duty
Call of Duty: United Offensive
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty: Roads to Victory
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: World at War
Call of Duty: World at War - Final Fronts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I don't like that number 2 there either.

From the above list, some were expansions/versions of the same game. Since the PC version was the first release and they were not able to present the same quality in a console they just added a name to it.

True, I don't have a problem with that but now they've completely gone away from even numbering the damn games.

And Treyarch made "Big Red One" it's a completely different game from COD2, it should not have the "2" in the title.

Among confusing sequels Final Fantasy takes the cake. I won't even bother to list it out.

I like this better. This way you know you are getting a direct sequel and it helps to differentiate btw Treyarch and Infinity Ward

I like it too. That way you (consumers) know they are getting a sequel to Moderen Warfare and not a sequel to World at War.

I don't care if they call it "Roger Clemens Likes Teenage Poonany", it's a first day purchase for me.

James Bond racing title? ugh haven't they learned from the PS1 days?

Wasn't this the company who ditched Riddick and Ghostbusters because they weren't worthy of a yearly franchise? This is how they treat the 007 license...by milking it dry with racing games???

It's made by Bizarre Creations though who did the Project Gotham Racing series, so it could have potential.

A truly awful trailer, but still a day 1 purchase.

Yup.

I don't mind them getting away from the Call of Duty title. COD4 was one of the best, if the not the best 360 game I've ever played but I couldn't stand World at War. I'm through with WW2.

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I thought the trailer was cool, and the best thing about it is a release date!!! I hate when games *cough-cough*(Bioshock 2) *cough* have had a trailer out for months and still no release date.
