Here are the $2 ones at my only 1 local store, that I bought:

The Pagemaster (WS & P/S FS)
A Beautiful Mind: 2 Disc Awards Ed. (WS)
Barber Shop: Special Ed. (WS)
Grumpy Old Men (FS)
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (WS)
Spaceballs: Collector's Ed. (WS)
Trapped In Paradise (WS)
Joy Ride: Special Ed. (WS)
Last Man Standing (WS & FS)
The Cat In The Hat (WS)
Lethal Weapon 4 (WS)
The Perfect Storm (WS)
Cinderella Man (FS)
The Negotiator (WS)
US Marshalls: Special Edition (WS)
Men In Black II: Special Edition (FS)
(2 pk) The Omen (WS) & The Omen: Behind The Screams

There were lots & lots more. I believe there were at least 50 different titles to choose from like the Ad stated. Many I already had. And, there were way too many FS versions for my liking too, but I'm not complaining. A variety for most genres.

I remember seeing (ScreenFormat unknown):

Two Weeks Notice
Big Momma's House
Constantine
The Devil's Advocate
March of the Penguins
Dawn of the Dead
Miss Congeniality 1 & 2
A History of Violence
The Fallen

and many more. I'm pretty brain-dead at the moment, so sorry. I hope this gives you some idea of what they have (or had) in stock.

Good luck to you.

Laterz,
Jay/DaXaD

Peter Pan (Disney) 2 pack for $10

Interview with the Vampire $2.00
Alexander: Directors Cut (Full Screen) $2.00
Vantage Point $9.00

On a side note, if you live in a state that has a Meijer, go there. They have a better selection of $2.00 and $4.00 dvds. Plus they're less crowded.

Picked up the 2 disc edition of Philadelphia for $2.00 and 3:10 to Yuma for $4.00.

FYI: They had the 3 disc edition of Panic Room in the $4.00 bin, but it came up as $31.95 at the register.

Picked up Syriana, Perfect Storm, Domino & Knockaround Guys all for $2. Lots and lots of titles. One of the Wal-mart's near here also had Kung Fu Panda & Tropic Thunder for $9. So I ended up getting the Kung Fu Panda double pack (with furious five) and tropic thunder with whatever cd thing was with it for $9 each. Didn't see any BD like WiiD posted, they had a handful for $16.

I can confirm yes...but it's whether or not you want to do it is the question.

I showed them a Fry's ad which had several Blu-Rays for $8.99. They didn't look at the movies listed, and rang them all up at $8.99. I went back an hour later and got a few more for $9.99.

Yeah they are supposed to be $20 and $25 respectively. Definitely a YMMV thing. I scanned them like 12 times just to make sure, and they definitely scanned $9. Another walmart was opposite though - regular price. So as said, ymmv.

By the time I got to Wally World everything was pretty much picked over. I got Borat FS, Taking Lives Unrated WS, Miami Vice WS, for $2 a piece, and what appeared to be the last copy of Superbad Unrated WS for $6.

Got to mine at 10:30am - the Doorbuster DVDs were in special displays in an aisle far from the A/V department - for you who say your Wal-Mart didn't have sale DVDs, I am guessing you just didn't see where they were set up

Picked up:
Miss Congeniality (WS Deluxe)
Bad Girls (Extended Cut)
Wedding Crashers (Uncorked Edition)
Blade (New Line Platinum)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (WS)

passed over:
Miss Congeniality 2 (FS)
300 (FS)
Alexander (FS)
Spiderman 3 ($9)
Incredible Hulk ($9)

One of the sale displays was for BluRay, but there was no price posted. The only remaining title that interested me was The Untouchables - passed it under a price scanner and it showed $19.96 so I put it back.

At 10:50am, two Wal-Mart employees barreled through the browsers and pulled off all the Doorbuster tags off the displays. This alerted me to get to the register before the prices might go up.

What a useful reminder of why I despise Wal-Mart. Nothing is marked with a price, just some carboard displays strewn all in the middle of an aisle with a bunch of blue-haired old ladies blocking every possible means of getting close enough to see them. One woman had at least 100 DVDs in her buggy - no doubt planning to re-sell for profit. When I finally do get close, all that's left are full-screen versions of what I already own or old WB snapper case releases. For $2, it's what you'd expect.

All these where in the same display with the other titles mentioned. They were all marked 'promo', so maybe some where more than $2:

Atonement (fs)
No Reservations (ws/fs)
United 93 (fs)
A bunch of Stallone WB snapper titles
I Am Legend (fs)

I came out at 6:30 am for this? I'd hoped to pick up Iron Man on Blu-Ray, but money is tight - so perhaps it was just as well they were sold out. I spotted the last copy of Indiana Jones, but I just knew I'd be rebuying it in a BD box set down the line, so I couldn't even justify $15 (not that it was even labelled that price to begin with). It's not the be all end all - Iron Man BD will be that price sometime next year, I'm sure - but I would have GLADLY payed $8 more to avoid that hassle. Should have gone the Amazon route, but nothing else was essential enough to get an order up to $25 for free shipping.

That's what I discovered...but only after taking several DVDs over to a price checking machine. I didn't hit Wal-mart until later in the day and when I found the DVDs (on the grocery side of the store no less), there were no signs anywhere, just a mess of DVDs with different colored stickers. The Interpreter
Pelican Brief

All WS or WS/FS combo. I haven't seen them but have half-considered buying most before due to reviews. The $2 price was enough to make it worth it. Didn't see Rocky Balboa or I would've grabbed that too. Likewise would've liked to pick up some Spaceballs 2-disc for friends but saw none of those. Saw nothing on sale except $2 single-pack DVDs and a lone 101 Dalmatians 2-pack for $10 lying randomly in another aisle. Most of the $2 DVDs people have mentioned in the thread were still available in one pretty full display. Seems like the store got a lot less than they did last year, when I think multiple DVD sale displays were sitting around for weeks.

We needed litter for the cat pan, so we stopped by around 10:00 last night, by which point the madness had completely subsided. They had a selection of $15 Blu-rays sitting in a cardboard box apropos of absolutely nothing in electronics; good titles (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Indy, etc.), but we haven't gone Blu yet so they did us no good. It took some hunting, but we eventually discovered the BF DVD's shoved back around the department formerly known as layaway.

You're missing the point. He "price matched" titles that were NOT that price at the store they were matching. He let the clerk think they were ALL that price, not just the titles listed in the ad.

Went to three Wal-Marts in my area (we have 3 less than 10 miles apart).

1st one - there was no display anywhere. In the media department there were none. I asked the employee there if they had anymore and he told me that they sold out black friday of everything. I found that odd so I asked if the other 2 Wal-Marts in our area had any. He said everyone sold out. I am sure glad I did not listen to him.

2nd one - there was a partial display at the front of the store with mostly the $6 & $9 titles. Snagged a couple. Noting in the media department.

3rd one - there was a full display at the front of the store with mostly $2 titles and some of the $6 double disc ones. There were very few $2, $6, & $9 titles in the media department.

I got all but 3 of these at the 3rd Wal-Mart I visited. This 3rd Wal-Mart also had the 3 titles I bought at the 2nd one.

I should've found out about the color scheme! They do it differently every year! I'm a smart person, yes, but I'm very slow to find out about obvious things. Oh, well, better luck next year, if they stick to it, that is.

pd071
11-29-08, 10:06 PM
Yeah, my store didnt have prices listed for the different color stickers either. An employee was standing there the whole time repeating like every 40 seconds what the colors meant for pricing. I picked up maybe 15 titles or so to give away for Christmas. Its hard to find something you'd like when you have a ton of movies.

I only got a few at Walmart. It wasn't even worth going there. I got there at 4 AM. Nothing was even set up yet even though they had the aisles where they were planning to drop the pallets of merchandise was cleared several days earlier. Apperently it was easier for Walmart to start bringing out the merchandise at 4:55 AM when there was at least 1,000+ people in the store than it would have been to bring it out the night before with no one in the store.

Most of the items in the ad were not even ringing up correctly. There was an $8.00 jacket in their ad that was coming up $20. The vacuum cleaner was twice what it was advertised for. Many of the $2.00 DVD's like Spiderman were ringing up for $6 and $8.

The prices on the dvd displays were hand written. Some displays were didn't have the correct hand written price on them. many people were pissed there.

It took nearly an hour to get to rung up and there were only 2 people in line in fron of us and they both had less than 15 items. Many prices were wrong and the credit card maching was running very slow so the clerk had to type in the card numbers and wait a long time for a supervisor to override the card. Went to Target after this and had no problems and there DVD prices were much better. Won't be doing Walmart next year or any more this year.

All I ended up getting were TMNT, Robots with the free cd, Taking Lives, and one other one. Not worth the hassle!!

Dropped into another Wal-Mart on Saturday night just to see if anything was left - a good number of titles in the $9 boxes - Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Ratatouille in the $6 section - and in the $2 display...

45 copies of Boiler Room

I went to three different Wal-Marts and they were all pretty well stocked. The only DVD I couldn’t find out of all the ones listed was TMNT.

These are the ones I picked up:

Interview with the Vampire
Let’s Go To Prison
Miss Congeniality 2
The Pagemaster
Constantine
A Time to Kill
Frequency
Spaceballs

Interview with the Vampire is the only one I actually bought on Friday. :p

Went on Sunday morning and they put all the sale dvds all in one display.

I got HollywoodLand
Undercover Brother

Still saw quite a few of the $10 Disney 2-packs, including 101 Dalmatians.
A lot of Iron Man & Hulk dvds.
I would have got Constantine but it was the Full Screen edition, so I passed.

I was pissed that there were some titles I would have gotten had they not been the fullscreen version of the movie.

Here's my haul:

*Beverly Hillbillies
*Rocky Balboa
*TMNT
*Cat in the Hat
*Constatine
*Joy Ride
*Aviator (on a blind buy)

Wished I had picked up Dawn of the Dead when I had the chance. Never did see Robots or I would have picked that one up too.

My Wal-Mart had a crap selection.

They didn't have any $2 DVDs out on Friday. Stopped by in the later afternoon/evening after the crowds had died down. Nada.

Went back Sunday evening to do some grocery shopping and they had the big sale display out. It looked pretty picked over, and there was little there that t interested me. Picked up a $2 copy of Domino, but upon closer examination discovered it was fullscreen and put it back.

Same here, except for Borat, since there weren't any copies left at the one I went to.

Last night, I looked over the display expecting the $2 movies to be gone, but to my surprise, there were a few that I picked up:

Barbershop
Boiler Room
Get Shorty
Miami Vice

went this morning and picked up a few PUNISHER tshirts from a big $8 display... no black friday DVDs left anywhere at all in the store.

I headed back to pick up a couple more Punisher shirts tonight and out of nowhere was a big DVD dump... I picked up:
-Last Man Standing
-Syriana
-Mystic River
-Taking Lives (unrated)
-Knockaround Guys
-Interpreter
-Hollywoodland
-Tenacious D - Pick of Destiny
-OVER THE TOP

Not too bad for $2 each! I would've picked up alot more if there wasn't
so many that were only in Fullscreen.

This is probably exactly what my walmart did also, I seem to remember them pulling the same crap another time as well, throwing up the display late. I am gonna have to remember when I wanna get in on a walmart sale to go a day or so later for a better chance.

That's the only one I really wanted, too. I found it on an endcap nowhere near the remaining $2 DVD's, so I lucked out since there weren't any there. I probably would have bought the Borat/shirt set for 2 bucks if I had seen it...

I went back to the three local Wal-Marts and their displays have all disappeared. Shame too, I was hoping to find a copy of Dawn of the Dead. I made the mistake of passing on it on Thanksgiving morning.

My Wal-Mart still had some DVDs at 6.00. I didn't venture far enough into the store to see if they had 2.00 ones. But we got I Am Legend for 6.00. There was still a ton of 40 Year Old Virgin, Departed, Ocean's 13, etc, left. I was surprised.

The display at my Wal-mart had been moved from near the groceries to near the DVDs. A whole side of cardboard shelving unit had a mixed assortment of stickered titles (the green, yellow, red). Picked up 10 of 'em (the green stickered $2 ones) that I was half-way interested in and took them to a scanner...all of 'em rang up for $5. I put them back...

I was fortunate because even if that had been the case for me, they still had price stickers on them for $2. That is how I got Pirates AWE for $6 even though it had gone up to $10.

Mine never had prices. Even during the sale over the weekend, WM just used the color coded stickers. Instead of removing the stickers, I suppose they thought the red/green labels would give the DVD section a more festive look this holiday season.
