In Vegas for the weekend, need a couple poker tourney ideas.

Hey guys,

I really could use a couple recommendations for smaller tournaments (holdem, no limit, or some kind of stud poker is good as well) on the strip. I'm staying at the Riviera, so something in walking distance would be great. I'm looking to spend as much as 250 per tourney, but preferably between 100 and 200. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Walking distance: Sahara, Circus Circus

Semi-walking distance: Wynn, TI, Venetian, Harrah's, Mirage, Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Caesars, Bill's

Sahara will likely be your best bet. Circus doesn't offer tourneys.

I played in a $60 tournament or so there about 3-4 years ago when I was a fledgling poker player. The tournament lasts about 4 hours and had maybe 8-10 tables I'd say and had an add-on for a few bucks that got you a few hundred more chips. I can't really rate the play because I sucked balls at poker back then.

The Sahara poker room sucks. Low ceilings, nothing to look at, worn down tables -- meh if you're going to go play a tournament somewhere, go to a nice casino and do it.

The only thing I remember from that tournament was being card dead the entire time and eventually shoving with ~ 7 or 8 big blinds with TT and I ran into KT and a KKKxx board.

The Binions daily 2 pm tourney is pretty good.

cept that instead of $60-80 entry fee, it's $60-80 + $30 in cab fare to get there and back ;)

venetian has some nice weekend tourney's that gets a good group of players with nice blind structures.

I work for the website that Scorcho posted the link to, and maintain the tournament database, amongst other things.

The best tournaments in the city, on a daily basis are offered at Venetian and Caesars, in that order.

For under $100, Sahara is indeed the best value, especially at 7PM, where the number of players often exceeds 150.
