now's here's an interesting topic for an IMAX feature since the usual topics tend to be about science. Currently in New York City, not sure of the rollout, but the DC premier screening will be in March as part of the annual Environmental Film Festival

This does look interesting. The nature ones are pretty, but once you've seen a few you've basically seen them all. Van Gogh's paintings on a giant screen should be stunning.

I saw this last night and I thought it was remarkable. At a scant 37 minutes, it's both a primer of Van Gogh's life and his paintings - and on the huge IMAX screen it's eye-popping. The camera does some very unique things, whether cropping to extreme close up, or angling the picture so that parts of the painting come into slow focus. The cinematography is incredible, at times it makes you want to reach forward and touch the imagery.

Sounds wonderful, though 37 minutes is a bit disappointing. Either way, I'll be checking this one out when it opens here next month.
