Season 1 is backordered. Are they actually gonna get copies of the HD-DVD/DVD combo set? (And doesn't the new 3-season pack coming out Tuesday include a DVD-only Season 1 set?)
This is an "online only" deal (with prices not indicated in the weekly circular), so that might reduce the chances of amazon matching it, but you never now.

Hmm I would actually prefer a DVD only season 1, since I don't have my HD-Player anymore. Any confirmation?

From DVDtown.com: Also being released on [Nov. 18] is STAR TREK: The Original Series: The COMPLETE 1st - 3rd Seasons [Remastered] (SRP $249.98) - with the entire series in a 25-disc DVD collection! Note: the Season One in this collection is now on DVD only (no longer paired with HD DVD as a "combo edition" set).
Edit* Looks like season 1 is OOS all around, not on Amazon, DD, etc.

Do you have a choice between the remastered with the new special effects and the original show?
I've seen the new shows with the new special effects but it would be nice to also have the original as I knew them growing up.
I was just wondering if both versions are on the discs.

Since Season 1 is "backordered" and has been that way for a long time, what are the odds that we will actually get all three seasons if we order these? I was going to get them through DeepDiscount this week, but obviously this is a better deal, if they will actually deliver the goods! Any ideas on how long it will be "backordered"? --Rick

It's a shame S2 & S3 aren't released in HD. S1 had extra features that showcased HDi which you don't get with the SD version. I already have the previously issued season sets so I'm debating whether or not this set is worth it. Had they released S2 & S3 in HD, I probably would've pulled the trigger. Sigh.....

When this promo first came up, Season 1 was In-store pick up only with available in very limited stores. Then Season 1 disappeared from the promo page for a while until it came back up with shipping option enabled however backordered for 1-2 weeks.

I'm just scared I'll order all three and end up not getting the first season. I'd rather spend the extra $30 or so on Deep Discount for the package deal if that's the case. --Rick

I'm sending mine back if I don't get the first season. Does DDD even have Season 1 in HD DVD? I don't know if anyone has it. Last time it was on Amazon Canada for $40. The way BestBuy put this promo up and the subsequent changes lead me to believe they have access to some.

This is very tempting. I already have the original releases of all three seasons (without the updated special effects) -- so I would need to keep these if I ever wanted to view an episode as it originally aired, correct?
