Mary Poppins 2 Disc 45th Anniv Ed (1/27/2009)
After the great 40th anniversary edition 2 disc, Disney will milk it once more and rererelease on DVD, and most likely BR, on 1/27/2009
No artwork or specs as of yet

Apparently, this will have all the features from the 40th Anniversary Edition, plus four new featurettes on the Broadway musical. I'll probably get this, especially since I never got around to picking up the 40th Anniversary Edition.

I was hoping they'd include this cut of the film...

whenever I start feeling nostalgic, I always consider getting the 40th anniversary but I have never gotten around to it. I'll have to pick this one up or just get the 40th if the price goes down

What's that? Three releases of this title so far? I suppose they'll release a 50th Anniversary Edition in 5 years... They still haven't released Song of the South. There's also a bunch of Gold Collection titles that haven't been revisited since their initial releases. Ridiculous!

No thanks! I already own the 40th anniversary edition so not interested in this one. I don't care if you get 4 new featurettes on the Broadway Musical or not as I'm not interested in that part just the movie itself..lol

So, the only new features were the one related to the musical. Were any features lost? Is the transfer exactly the same, or has the picture been remastered? It says remastered on the back, but I'm not sure if they mean it was remastered since the last recent release.

Sounds like there were a few minor things dropped and about an hour of broadway stuff added. Transfer is identical to the previous edition.
If you own the 40th, it doesn't sound like there's much reason to get the 45th, unless the broadway stuff is appealing to you.

Hi Everybody,
Though I am a closet "Mary Poppins" fan (I have every re-release of the film INCLUDING one of the first copies sold on VHS--I'm an old soul, what can I say!!lol) for some reason, this release dosen't really appeal to me. Maybe because, just in my view, its alittle short on features. I would consider getting it if it was on Blu-Ray, but since that dosen't look like thats gonna happen anytime soon, I'll guess I'll stick to y old worn out VHS!! LOL
Oh, This is my first post. So umm, hello everybody!

I wish I could link this little tidbit I learned online why Disney is not releasing this on bluray - from what I read, Disney wants the time to do a new hidef transfer which will take some effort than just throwing the prior film to video transfer which the 40th/45th edition has - it's speculated that the bluray will be released early next year.

and the 40th edition's picture doesn't look that hot to begin with.... I can only dream what the eventual bluray will look like, substantially improved. Also, the commentary track is great! - something I hadn't heard before, very engaging and very informative. Second to 'The Jungle Book' commentary, and the 'Brother Bear' commentary ( ) this one's a keeper.
