Why are there no other 24 hr comedy channels?
In the age of 500+ channels, we have multiple channels for movies, sports, education (tlc, discovery, history channel), music and other types of entertainment, but there is only 1 comedy channel: comedy central. Don't get me wrong. I love Comedy Central and it is one of my go to channels when nothing is on. It just seems like there would be enough room for a 2nd comedy channel.

Weren't there two before they merged into CC? I'd submit it's likely that lots of other channels are part-time comedy channels, so the market is pretty saturated.

There was Ha! and The Comedy Channel, which merged into Comedy Central.
Edit: Wikipedia lists TBS as a comedy-focused network, and the network's official slogan is "Very Funny."

TBS is not a 24 hour comedy channel by any stretch of the imagination. It's pretty easy to ridicule their slogan if you really pay attention to their schedule. I think it is fair to say they have that focus most of the time, but it's hardly constant.
Still, I think they're one among a few who serve the comedy market part time.

Some would argue that Comedy Central isn't a 24 hour comedy channel either.
I wouldn't mind a Comedy Central Classic once Comedy Central HD launches. They could run old MST3K episodes and that Allan Havey talk show.

I'll second the call for them to re-air MST3K. They still own the non-Sci-Fi/KTMA episodes, right? It's perfect late night programming (like when they used to air it). Maybe they make more on "Scrubs" repeats and those infomercials.
When is Comedy Central HD launching?

See now I'd be fine with those stand-up clip shows they used to air. Basically a bunch of "sets" or 10 minute segments like they used to do on the Rosie O'Donnell hosted Stand-up Spotlight circa 1989. You could air that all night - I could pass out in the middle and not miss anything.

Not to mention some of their past original and syndicated programming: "Battle Bots"? "Let's Go Bowling"? "Mad TV"? Not comedy.
