Two new cast members for SNL

http://www.popeater.com/television/a...518x1200841817
(Nov. 12) -- Proving that Amy Poehler left a gaping hole in 'SNL's' cast with her recent departure, showrunner Lorne Michaels replaced her with not one, but two new women. Though female cast members have been a focal point of the show in recent years, the stereotypically male-dominated cast will get a dose of ladyhumor with Michaela Watkins of 'The New Adventures of Old Christine' and 21-year-old Abby Elliot. The latter is the daughter of 'SNL' alum Chris Elliot, whose brief stint in the cast in the '90s was arguably the least funny thing he's ever done. Abby Elliot's own resume is fairly slim, featuring some small roles on TV and a couple turns as "Hipster Girl" on 'King of the Hill.' In the video below, Elliot delivers her best Kirsten Dunst impression.

As Defamer points out, it's unusual that 'SNL' would choose two white women in the weeks following Michelle Obama's invitation to the White House. Currently, President-elect Barack Obama's wife is played by former cast member Maya Rudolph. Prior to Rudolph, whose mother was African American singer Minnie Riperton, the last black woman to appear regularly on 'SNL' was Ellen Cleghorne, who left the show in 1995.
The Comic's Comic reports that Watkins and Elliot will likely be starting their 'SNL' careers this Saturday. Actor Paul Rudd is hosting.

Hope this hasn't been posted already.

Cabin Boy's daughter! She should be half as funny as he is.

Wow, after the horrible things Chris Elliott said in the "Live from New York" book about his time on the show, I thought he would have steered her far away from SNL.

I wondered for the longest time why, when the season started, it seemed like Amy Poehler's replacement was going to be that fat white dude.

I think a Kirsten Dunst impression is about as funny as an empty bucket, but she comes off like Anna Faris, so me likee.

Wait, did I see Paul Rudd? I might have to watch this one.

SNL is exposure, I can see Chris overlooking his own experiences to give his daughter a chance for her own life without interfering too much.

So why does Lorne Michaels hate black women?

That seemed more like Drew Barrymore than Kirsten Dunst.

I'm willing to give her a chance. She's very cute, and once she has that classic SNL writing these days to work with, surely she'll shine.

No way the new girl will replace the greatness of Amy Poehler.

that is like asking Jim Sorgi to replace Peyton Manning.

The loss of Poehler and the end of the election and Palin out of the spotlight will doom the rest of the season.

For the show's sake, I hope Abby Elliott is funnier than her father.

So who wants to take a bet that Cabin Girl does that Kirsten Dunst impression on her first episode?

Michaela Watkins has some sort of connection to "The Soup" since they were congratulating her last night on this gig.

As long as it's Celebrity Jeopardy and Hammond is Connery.
