Not exactly like you sync other wireless accessories. Other than the control, which I've synced twice in a year, I haven't had any other accessories to sync. And it didn't work like the manual said, I had to fiddle with it and try things that worked when I was getting my bluetooth headset connected to the cell phone. Tried Unchained Melody and I'm Alright (country), and since there's no lyrics, it's so much easier to keep in sync and you still earn points. It is so easy to just stick in a USB stick with all the songs but you do have to add them manually.

Do you not see how something like Lips where you bring your own music into the game and it doesn't score you on pitch or give you the lyrics would be perceived as no different than singing along to the CD? It has the video for the purchased songs and for your own tracks it presumably has a cool visualization (like a computer program would) but it isn't really a game. If you enjoy that and like the flashing mics and visualization then awesome. Go you.

However, it's not anything like playing the plastic guitar, synth drums, or a mic where you are being scored based upon pitch.

Whoa, I was getting less than 10 stars per song and with Under the Bridge I got 410 stars!! Not even with the regular songs did I get that much. I got 1,475,917 pts and I was getting an average of 500,000 with the regular songs. It liked that song it seems :D

I agree with you...to a point. There's no pitch indicator however the score meter moves faster the longer you are on pitch. If the score meter isn't moving, you need to adjust. The game is great if you want to have a friendly game of karaoke at your next party and you get scored on how well you sing. Using your own music is a bonus because I'd assume you wouldn't use songs that you don't know the lyrics to. :-)

Even though I do wish the pitch indicator was there for my own songs, not having it there removes the competitive pressure and just makes it a fun game IMHO.

But if there are new posts in the "General Music" thread, then you have to check it because it might be about a music game you have interest in.

Are you saying that you had a GamerTAG (from the original Xbox) that remained continuously active before you migrated it over to the 360?

I was on a 2-month trial from my Xbox when I migrated the GT over to my 360. The remaining FREE time just converted to a Gold membership.

EDIT: I guess I can see your point now. Existing LIVE members who migrated didn't get a FREE month? That kinda stinks. Totally different from my situation. I hadn't maintained a continuous GT(had 2 or 3 month trials), friends list, etc until I got my 360 -- almost 2 years now.

I wanted to like Arkadian Warriors but it seemed a little "empty". Maybe i'll try the trial again. Not really interested in the rest.

I like the NXE in that it is a much crisper, "cooler" look, but it seems like loading Friends list or avatars is noticeably slower. Installing game to hard drive can really suck up the space, and I don't know if I've noticed much difference in loading time. I currently have RB2, Fallout 3, and L4D installed, which combined to slightly over 10GB.

I hated the demo. I just didn't 'get it' either. I decided to take a plunge on it anyway and am glad I did. I'd put it in my top three XBLA games with Pac-Man: CE and GeoWars 2. Like those two, it's a high score type of game with tons of replay value. Plus it is actually a challenging game. I think I've only finished it once. Using a second controller as a back massager while you play is a nice touch. :lol:

Not true. I'd never even heard of the original when it came out, so I have to say the exact opposite. It more than delivered on the hype.

Kingdom of Kefflings is SO addictive! It can definitely use some tweaking (like an alert when the mayor has tasksa for you, grey out sections of the blueprint for buildings once you've completed that section), but it is definitely a lot of fun.

I picked up the Golf game and spent some time with it last night. It's kind of a poor man's Hot Shots Golf. No where near as good but definitely worth the 6 bucks. I think the DLC added desert course is also on sale (it is 320 points). I got it as well and fuck is it crazy hard. They went against having normal type course and just went nuts with outlandish holes which is pretty cool and very challenging.

I tried the demos of the others ones on sale. already had the Crackdown DLC from way back and have yet to even really use it.

Don't care about Catan. Played the Rez demo once again and still don't give a shit about that game. I just don't get the hype. Not even worth the 6 bucks to me.

Even though Assault Warriors is ultra cheap...I just can't pull the trigger. Don't really want it taking up space on my HD. I might give it another try on the demo before it goes away, but right now....:shrug:

I think I'm just gonna go for the $30 20gb drive with 3 months Gold Live, but there's also the option of picking up the 60gb starter pack for $100. I feel, though, at that point I should have just sprung for the 60gb model, and I went with the Arcade to keep expenses as low as possible.

I plan to mainly use this for Netflix streaming but will play the occasional exclusive (like Fable II). I'll also play any cool exclusive downloadables (I hear Castle Crashers is pretty cool?) Will the 20gb be plenty for this?

I also need to hookup my year of xbox live. Does anyone have recommendations here? Should I get the Messenger Gold Pack with headset, chatpad, Project Gotham Racing for $60? Should I go with the Live Vision bundle which is a little bit more which has the camera, 200 points and 2 arcade games?

Or are there some other options I should consider?

I would say that you may not think you need or want the extra space but it's nice to have it when you need it. I never thought I needed it until MS released NXE and now all the clearance 120g drives I walked past a few weeks ago at Target are all gone. I missed out on that one big time. Now my 20g has 3g left since I installed one game to play from the hard drive.

Also, I think the chatpad is far more useful than the camera. You may not use it every day, but when you need to put in codes, reply to messages, and a few other things you'll be glad you have it. Plus I like how it makes the controller feel.

I'd suggest the biggest hard drive you can find/afford. I originally bought the Elite, thinking "I'll never need all that space." Admittedly I need to try and delete some demos, but after Rock Band 1/2, 3 games installed, and XBLA and demos, I've got ~25 GB free.
That said, if you're not interested in lots of DLC, other than a few XBLA games, 20 or 60 GB is doable.

I definitely think the chatpad would be more useful than the camera. I guess if you do a lot of chatting with friends on line, the camera could be cool; I do have one, BJ's had a deal on the Live Vision Gold pack when I first got my box. I ordered a Live Messenger Pack today, 40-some dollars after Live.com 30% cashback on Ebay. I figured with the cashback, the pack with pad, headset, and game is about the same as retail for the 13 months card alone.

You can put in codes through Xbox.com, that's what I've always done, because it is a pain entering codes with the onscreen keyboard.

Is there a problem where you cannot play downloaded Live games unless actually connected to Live?

I do not play online with anyone, nor do I have a desire to do so. All I want is to be able to download the occasional track pack for GH:WT, or download a Live game now and again.

I recently went to play Castle Crashers (after having not played in a month or so due to a move), and it only shows up as being the trial version. So, I brought out the modem, and plugged it into the 360, and proceeded to re-download the game, as well as Geometry Wars 2. All is fine, and I begin to play the game.

However, I have the problem where my save is lost (I was into the high 60's in terms of levels with the Blue Knight), and needed to get online with my router to remember what the "fix" was. Upon seeing it, I jumped back into the 360 to play the game, and it showed as only being the trial version.

This wasn't like this prior to the NXE coming into play, and I'm not going to be thrilled if this is part of the update.

(And yes, I realize that it would be more convenient to simply have the modem in the living room, but the manner in which the cable enters my apartment makes this a practical impossibility.)

That happens when you replace your 360. The content you buy is tied to the console so if you sent yours in for repair and got a different one back, your content won't work offline anymore.

There is a fix though. Hit xbox.com and search for DRM tool and it will get you squared away. You can only do this once per year, BTW.

At the moment I would consider it a novelty, but if they come back with the gamerscore challenges it is hardly that. In it's infancy the website had challenges where a group of gamers could sign up and depending on the duration of the contest could win stuff like gift cards or XBox Live point cards. For the contests that were for a month long it was the 4000 points cards or $50 GC to like Best Buy. Hoepfully that comes back one day, who knows.

I looked into this, but just not something I want to risk. I was really happy getting the 20GB one and 3 months of live for $30 and I doubt I will need more than the 13GBs or so it actually gives you. I have downloaded several videos, DLC and XBLA games and still have 10GBs free. I have my 360 networked to my PC so I can stream all my audio and video. XBLA doesn't fill it very much and I don't need to install games to the HDD. I would grab the 120GB one if it was $50, but outside of that I'm fine with the 20GB

At first I didn't use the form. I called and told them a friend sold his 360 but gave me the drive so he didn't have the kit anymore. I called when it never showed up and apparently the system kicked it out since I didn't have a S/N so the CSR submitted again letting me know it probably wouldn't take again but gave it a shot anyway. So I talked a friend into giving me his Elite S/N and faxed in the form that way. Turns out the order the CSR pushed through worked as well as the fax.

I have 3 games in my queue and I'm not really sure which to pop in next. I just finished Bioshock (960/1100) on Medium. I can try it on Hard for the other 140 points or I can move back into my comfort zone with a nice JRPG. I have 3 unplayed, but one is currently lent out (Infinite Undiscovery). However if I don't do Bioshock now, I'll probably never bother. For other FPS games, I still have Halo 3 and GoW1 to finish, but I have some local friends that want to play those - we'll see...

So, tell me as my Friday afternoon is free. Which of these is next?

Are people using the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter? My concerns are that it's majorly expensive and second, on ebay, tons of people are selling broken ones where the red light stays on all the time.

Is that issue easily fixed? Is it as common as it appears? Or are people finding other/better alternatives (for wireless use)?

The official adapter is merely the most elegant solution. Any wireless bridge can be used for this, but they won't clip onto the back of the unit and require their own power source.

For those of you who haven't got it, there are two single player 'missions' available, Public Assembly, and Shanty Town. You can also play co-op online, and co-op offline. Is it just me or does the 3rd person camera seem to close to my character, is there a way to adjust it that I haven't found?

I had nothing but trouble with this set up especially after the dashboard update. Had to reset the connection every time the console was turned on and it eventually would not reconnect at all. (may have been an issue with my 2Wire U-Verse router, but have no issues on the original Xbox, or the DS, PSP, Wii and PS3s built in Wi-Fi) I gave up and ran a cable to the living room. I've liked the 360 overall, but not including Wi-Fi at this point is mind boggling. At the very least Microsoft could stop pricing HDDs and Wi-Fi adapters like they are made of gold.

Well, here comes another one of those "Help me! I can't connect to Xbox Live!" questions.

Ever since the dash update, it has kept telling me that I needed to change my NAT settings, which I'm sure is the reason why I wasn't able to game with any of my friends. Well, I started to try to fix it and have gone from being able to connect to Xbox Live but not to my friends to not being able to connect to Xbox Live at all.

I'm using a shared connection with my computer. I have a static IP address and have forwarded ports for the 360 on my router. I keep getting a message saying that it is unable to obtain an IP address from my router.

I really don't know what to do at this point.

Well, the problem has now evolved. Now, it says, "Your DNS server can't resolve the names of the Xbox Live servers or Xbox.com."

I have entered the DNS in manually and set it to automatic and it won't work either way.

At this point, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the LAN settings on my computer, but I just can't figure it out. So frustrating!

Gears, Dead Rising, Condemned, Halo, there are all kinds of exclusives. As for the Arcade, Pac-Man: Championship Edition, Rez HD, Galaga Legions, Geometry Wars 2 & Uno among others.

edit: Reading the reviews on Amazon, they say it's the same exact controller, just in red with black accents. Costs more because of the play&charge included.
