Batman The Animated Series Complete Series Boxset

So, being a huge Batman fan, I pre-ordered this set from Warner Bros Online back in August. I purchased it with their discount coupon at the time, which knocked it from $75 to $55. I noticed several times that my card would randomly be charged for the amount, then would clear off a couple of days later. Well, less than 5 days before it was released I get an email saying that it's "NO LONGER AVAILABLE", yet when I went to their site daily it states that it's available for pre-order. The set was released this Tuesday and now shows on their site as available!!

I've contacted their customer service line a couple of times. First I contacted them when I got the notice and was told that it is no longer available. I then contacted them a couple of days later explaining that they still have it for pre-order and I want to make sure that if it is available I get it at the price I was originally charged. Was told that I'd get a callback, but didn't. So today I called them back. Was again told that its not available, yet their site definitely shows that it is!!

Am I getting screwed here because they don't want to honor such a low price on it? I pre-ordered it over 2 1/2 months before it was released. As far as I know its not a "limited edition" set and I fail to believe that WARNER wouldn't have enough to honor their pre-sells since they are the ones producing them to start with!!

I finally went out and bought it today at Best Buy for $20 more than what I had pre-ordered it for. I'm thoroughly p.o.'d at the way WB handled this. Has anyone else had this problem?

Still, I'm glad to get this set even though I had already bought the individual sets when they were released.

There are quite a few of us in the WHV 30% off coupon code thread of the Bargains Forum that had the same thing happen.

I don't really understand what happened with WHV. It seems like they should have known how many units they'd have available and cut off preorders at that point. I pre-ordered months ago, and yet they didn't have one for me. It seems pretty fishy.

I did the same thing you did - sucked it up and bought it at Best Buy yesterday. I'm not too upset, because frankly, this gorgeous set is worth every penny that I paid there.

It sucks that happened to you. I got it at Best Buy, never planned on pre-ordering it. I am VERY pleased with this set. The packaging is fantastic, and is very detailed. The book is fantastic, and so far the episodes are of great quality.

According to their promotional artwork in this TVShowsonDVD.com news article, it is a limited edition...

Thanks for the info Brandon. Still, it was a pretty crappy thing to do to people that pre-ordered them months in advance and then they wait till the last minute to say it's not available. Fortunately I live in an area surrounded by several Best Buys (some of which didn't even have it). Had I been in some rural area, this could've really screwed me, as I'm sure there are some out there that will get screwed. I wonder how limited it is??

I just saw all the episodes of JL and JLU on youtube over the span of a month..and wow..just fucking wow. When the hell do we get a whole JL(U) and Superman Complete Series. I remember really liking Supes the cartoon but I didn't remember that it was this good either. Great animation and storylines, simple enough for kids to enjoy and full in awesome tales for adults too.

I wish I would have waited.

I bought all 4 volumes in 2003 and 2004.

Given that Superman got the 3-discs-squeezed-onto-one-regular-disc-and-one-double-sided-disc treatment, I doubt Warner thinks highly enough of its audience size and likely sales figures to ever issue a complete series boxed set of it. Justice League might fare better, but I would think the sales figures of Batman will have something to do with whether or not that happens.

Is $75 a descent price for this set?

Re: Batman The Animated Series Complete Series Boxset

Well, I just ordered it through Amazon, hope it's nice. I've been looking at it since it came out, but never bought it. I've seen the show, but just don't own any of the DVDs.

I bet you guys anything, that this thing will show up on a Gold Box Deal for like 30 bucks... bet on it.

I was expecting that, but now that WB took the set OOP, I highly doubt it will happen.

Re: Batman The Animated Series Complete Series Boxset

Wow, it looks like this set is OOS just about everywhere! (I ordered it from DeepDiscount, and never got it, like many others.)

Anybody know an online store that has this in stock? I don't belong to BJ's, and I don't want to pay Ebay prices

Thanks!

If you don't care about a sketchbook, just buy the separate volumes.

Like most of these special editions (Disney excepted), I would bet this is reprinted by next year.

Buffy, Freeks and Geeks, etc.

If the studios see $$$, they will respond.

Re: Batman The Animated Series Complete Series Boxset

Glad I had mine preordered through Amazon.com.

If you're in Canada, you can try your luck ordering it from Future Shop or Best Buy's website, as they both have them listed as "Out of Stock: Will ship when available" for $89.99.

Re: Batman The Animated Series Complete Series Boxset

Well I was able to snag one brand new for 120 shipped. More than I wanted to pay but about 30 dollars cheaper than what the going price is on ebay.

I'm hoping that holding out for the BD eventually pays off.
