Donnie Darko Blu-Ray on Feb 09 Amazing Cover!!

If there are some new features I might got for it (or a low price... yeah, right), but I already own the theatrical DVD and the director's cut, so I'm good for now. That cover is pretty cool, though.

I like both cuts of the movie to an extent. I haven't watched either in awhile, but a couple of scenes, like the one where the doctor reveals that Donnie is taking placebos, I would have kept in.
That cover is awesome. Hopefully it will include the bonus features from both DVDs, so I can just get rid of both of them and have the movie on Blu.

Hopefully they port over all the features (mainly thinking of the commentary tracks).

I hope this got remastered for the Blu. The HD Version available on Fearnet on Demand is truly terrible (watched it and Midnight Meat Train back-to-back, MMT looked fantastic in HD, D. Darko looked absolutely terrible).

Daaaaaaaaamn that is a sexy cover. Now if I can sell both versions I have for ~$15 total, I'll buy this.

I LOVE that cover...let's just hope all the special features are ported over, so I can dump my 2 DVDs.

Yes, I think that is quite possibly the best "new" DVD cover of any movie I've ever seen. Thumbs way way up to whoever created it.

The craziest part is, the covers for the DVD and DC DVD were pretty good too, and there are also covers in other regions as well that weren't the same as either of the US's two DVDs or this BD. So not only did Fox have at least four or five good artworks at their disposal, they STILL chose to create a new one and it doesn't blow.

That is a very cool cover.
Blu-ray seems like it's difficult to work with from a graphic design standpoint because of the blue case. Sometimes it looks really great, like on the 2001 BR and Dark City DC BR, when there's a lot of black, blue, or gray. But covers with a lot of red like 30 days of night, look awful with that bright blue case.

The specs have been released on The Digital Bits:
I know the one DVD sounds strange, but it makes some sense to me. If the original source material for the extras isn't anything above 480p, why blow a Blu-Ray disc on it, or compress some of the feature on the Blu-ray disc for the stuff to fit?
(Fox is doing the same thing for the upcoming The Passion of the Christ Blu-ray release.)
Also newly announced by Fox for BD release on 2/10 is Donnie Darko (SRP $34.99). This will be a 2-disc set (one Blu-ray and one DVD). Extras on the BD disc will include both the theatrical cut and the director's cut, 3 audio commentary tracks (one with writer/director Richard Kelly and Jake Gyllenhaal on the theatrical cut, a second with the cast and crew on the theatrical cut, and a third with writer/director Richard Kelly and Kevin Smith on the director's cut) and D-Box enhancement. The DVD disc will include more extras on SD format, including a Donnie Darko Production Diary with optional commentary by director of photography Steven Poster, 2 featurettes (They Made Me Do It Too: The Cult of Donnie Darko and #1 Fan: A Darkomentary), a storyboard-to-screen featurette and the director's cut theatrical trailer. Cover art is available below.

At very least at a MSRP of 39.98 the theatrical presentation could have been done on a BD-25 as noted and included a standard dvd with existing bonus materials as I doubt many of these would see benefit of being on BD as it is. Even then I still think it would be overpriced. This just seems like the Superbiting of BDs
This sums up my feelings as well and I believe those who feel the benefit of the increase pricing vs the turn downs being few are grossly mistaken. In addition pricing such as this does nothing to advance this format, if anything it shows how out of touch the studios can be

A warning to anyone who buys this disc. If you watch #1 Fan: A Darkumentary, do so in a room without any sharp objects handy. You may have a strong compulsion to stab your eyes out and cut off your ears.
Really, you're just better off not watching it.

Yeah, it was definitely weak.
