I greatly prefer Andy Partridge's demo for "My Brown Guitar" over the full band version that XTC recorded. The chorus in the demo just has more of a...sense of longing, and the guitar isn't as obnoxiously overbearing in that part of the song.

Townshend's demo of "Magic Bus"

Sometimes I prefer the acoustic demo of "Eton Rifles", but sometimes I prefer the studio version.

Is this thread only for "officially released" demos, or for bootleg/unofficial demos as well?

I much prefer the Pearl Jam song "Brother" as the demo with vocals to the instrumental version they released on Lost Dogs...

I really liked the demo of Time To Change by Motley Crue (it was heavy on church organ).

I like quite a bit of the Beatles Anthology over the released tracks. Ringo comes off decently in a few of them.

The biggest improvement imo is It's Only a Northern Song. LOVE the demo but hate the cut off of Yellow Submarine.

The Replacements "rougher" version of "Can't Hardly Wait" is vastly superior to the version on Pleased To Meet Me.

That's because Bob is on the earlier version. Bob is awesome.
