ER - The Book Of Abby - 10/16/08

Neela is disappointed when she finds out Abby s good news second hand. When a gunshot wound victim comes into the ER, the new chief, Catherine Banfield and Abby butt heads on how to treat the patient. Abby comes to Sam s defense when she goes before a nurses disciplinary board.
Abby's last episode.

I was really impressed with the opening scene, specifically
Spoiler:
the use of the music from when Greene left in Orion in the Sky

Tonight episode is probably the last for me since she's leaving the show. Maybe she can do comedy again.

I'm looking forward to Carter and Greene's returns, I'll probably hang on just since it's the last season. But there's gonna be some awful ones in between I'm sure

Is anyone here well read enough to know if Abby was reciting from something (a book or poem) at the end of this episode, or were those lines supposed to be musings from her own head?

I think the implication was that she was reading from The Bible that her mother gave her.

Hate to see Abby go, but this was a solid episode, and a nice send-off for Maura Tierney.

Abby's musings

I believe that Abby is quoting lines from The Book of Job but I'm not sure what version of the Bible. She says, "What is the way to the abode of life? Where does darkness reside?" In the New American Bible, the line is: "Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place"

Goodbye to Maura Tierney and "Abby Lockhart" ...

There are only 16 episodes left, so hopefully we see Carter and Greene soon. I'm assuming they will be coming within the next couple of episodes considering Abby left.

I thought they did a good job on this episode. It wasn't as emotional as "One the Beach", but I thought they gave Abby a good final episode.

Boring episode. Her character became more and more irritating in recent years because she was never happy. She rarely smiled. She was cynical, and she was a killjoy. The rude way she treated Neela was typical of her behavior. Not gonna miss her.

the fact she didn't tell anyone just goes to show what kind of a bitch her character was towards the end

although now they have the new chief who is a bigger bitch than even weaver was on her worst days

I didn't think much of most of the episode. Seemed like one of those "let's make the character act impetuous and reckless (as if drunk) and maybe score an Emmy nom" things. But the wall of names did get me. I guess we'll have a lot more of that this year.

I didn't really mind Abby. The best part of her leaving is we don't have to see her Mom again (I hope)
