And question about price matching at BB for anyone that knows. Circuit City has the 2-disc bond dvds on sale for 12.99 + a 5 dollar discount when you buy any two. If I brought a CC ad to BB on sunday, they would match both the lower prices and the 5 dollar discount, correct?
So the total should work out to 14.99 + 14.99 - 9.40 = 20.58 before tax?
Thanks

Wonder if they will do a Casino Royale Steelbook to match the ones being released at the same time. It would stand to reason that they would do one for each movie. Why leave out the new Casino Royale re-release?
And it appears you are paying $15 more for the 3 BD steelbooks instead of the collections. Do you think it is worth the price difference?

I'll probably just try to at least get them to match the CC normal price, which is still a few dollars cheaper on each title. You can do all that at a normal checkout register now - I doubt they'll care, especially when the difference is only $3 per title (without the additional CC discount).
That will help me rationalize this since I'm going to paying so much more (over the Amazon bundle of all 6) to get these steelbooks.

I just noticed that Best Buy has $10 off coupons for the Bond DVDs/Blu-Ray in their Quantum of Solace video game pre-order box.
The pre-sell costs $5, so, at the minimum, it's $5 off a Bond title. However, according to the pre-sell box, you can get the $5 refunded by just taking the receipt to customer service. So, the potential is there for $10 off.
The coupon itself says "Limit 1 per Customer." I had been thinking of just picking up 6 pre-order boxes to get 6 $10 off coupons. But, if it's going to turn into an event where I have to go through the line 6 different times to avoid the "limit 1 per customer" hassle, it's probably not worth it. A friendly cashier could just ring them up separately (or just take the $10 off each title), but I'm sure a flag would be rasied...
I may just use the one coupon I have and PM the rest with Circuit City.... maybe I'll get lucky and their POS system will just apply the $10 to all qualifying products... that would be nice.

a feature length documentary was added on the 40th anniversary version. Most reviews say the picture looks better than ever, but is zoomed/cropped a couple of places (allegedly to crop out things like boom mics and so on, under Romero supervision even I THINK...).

Cool. That's what I was thinking of doing as well. I think pushing for the $5 or 2 might ring some bells as well.
I asked for the $19.49 price, explaining the $5 off 2 deal, and after a moment of potential frustration (she tried to call a manager), I explained again, and she went forward. She seemed to do $19.49 on four and $19.99 on two, but that's no big deal to me. The extra 10% came off as well, so it was $116 plus tax for the steelbooks.
Is there any other "completist" out there who is concerned now about getting every one as a steelbook and having to buy them from Best Buy? Will MGM keep using steelbooks to complete the collection? Neither Casino Royale version is a steelbook (right?), so I'm already perplexed.

All the Bonds = MGM (Fox)
Casino Royale and Quantum = Sony
That's why Casino may not be in a SB.

Ah, that makes sense. Oh well, I have owned no steelbooks until now, but I admit they look very sweet.

BB's price match policy is to reduce the competitor price further by 10% of the difference as long as you buy first, then price match after.

My local Best Buy price-matched the Fry's 16.99 price on the Bond Steelbook Blu-rays :)

I was able to successfully PM the $21.99 CC price on the Bond steelbooks at BB. I didn't push for the "$5 off 2" deal...
Same here. They actually pricematched the Casino Royale SE Blu-ray to $21.99 as well, AND The Incredible Hulk Blu-ray to $22.99 (the woman apparently saw CC's price for the 2-disc DVD and thought it was for the Blu-ray, I didn't even ask!) Pretty good outing.

I always forget about that and they never do it for me.
Did anyone get the steelbooks from Best Buy and end up with a "For Your Eyes Only" with a double-disc tray inside the steelbook? What a weird design. It had 2 hubs and the disc was in the top hub where the disc actually has to slide UNDER the bottom tray. What a pain to get it out...
I also left with a Dr. No with a small dent in the steelbook cover. I'm so anal about this stuff that it bugs me and I may have to go through the embarrassment of exchanging it. Heck, I'd like a For Your Eyes Only with only one hub, too, if they exist...
Then again, I just opened From Russia With Love and it has a double-disc tray inside, too. Guess they just used whatever was lying around...

I got my location to match the $21.99, then also take the CC deal of additional $5 per two purchased, then I whipped out the $10 Best Buy coupons in the QofS video game pre-book boxes. The day before I'd put $5 deposits X 7 on these games to get the coupons.
That's when the cashier's eyes crossed. The "senior" (not a manager) came over and said that was double dipping and wouldn't allow it. I pointed out that unlike many of their coupons (like the 10% off coupons they mail out only good on regular priced items) this $10 off Bond DVD/BluRay one didn't exclude sales items or price matches. "Senior" points to price match policy on wall behind counter, which also doesn't address coupon + price match situation. So, I asked to see the price match brochure that has more detailed price match policy. We both read it and again.... nothing about coupon + price match. (It does mention rebates, giftcard offers, etc, but not coupons.) Finally, he said that he would do one, but not all six. I said no thanks, and then went to customer service to get refunds on all the game pre-book $5 things I'd already done.
It seems that their unwritten, unposted "double dip" rule supercedes them actually honoring the terms of their price match policy and their own company-issued coupons.
As I left, they made a snarky comment about the future of Circuit City (one is located literally next door to this BB location), even though they just let money walk out their door...
Oh, and I put back the Looney Tunes Vol. 6 boxset and Casino Royal 40th Anniv. DVD that I was also picking up...
As much as I liked the Steelbook packaging, it just wasn't worth it for me.

I get the concept of stopping people from double-dipping on matches, sales, etc. BUt in a case like this they ARE two separate things. A price match, and then a valid coupon. If the coupon doesn't exclude sale items, they should have taken it.

Exactly! If I price matched Indy Jones 4 to (for example) CC's cheaper price, then I whipped out the $3 off coupon from Papa John's, would that be double dipping in the eyes of BB?
I don't get it, other than they simply didn't want to sell the Bond blu-ray discs so cheaply.

It wouldn't have mattered if they did let you use the coupon with the price match - their POS won't deal with it. Well, it WILL, just not the way you were wanting it to. I used one $10 off coupon and price matched all 6 to the $21.99 CC price. It ended up price matching to $21.99, then taking off $7 instead of $10 to get the price down to the same $14.99 it would've gone to without price matching.
I'm surprised they didn't just argue against the number of coupons in play since they did say "Limit one per customer". That's why I didn't even attempt it. I would've needed to make a day of it and hit multiple Best Buy's/cashiers to pull that one off.

I refuse to give Best Buy my service anymore.
Their employees on the floor are horrid. They rarely are around for you to ask a question, and when you do find one to ask for assistance, their head is so far up their a$$, it's like they are from another planet. I swear.
The only way I will set foot in their store is to take hold of a slip up to where they are going to take a hit. That's where I am going to put forth my effort.
btw, I walked out the door yesterday with BUG, Jack Brooks 2 disc set and Jeepers Creepers with holograph slip cover for $2.11. Thanks Best Buy for your sh!t service!!!
Sorry for the huff and puff guys... I just have personal beef with the store I suppose. *Sigh*

I had a 15$ coupon!!! ;)
But, I think they mistakenly gave me the Jack Brooks 2 disc for the 6.99 price rather than giving me the single disc.
So if that's the case, a heads up to all of you. The Jack Brooks Monster Hunter 2 disc set is going for 6.99. Not the bland single disc version... It's also a slipcover!

Anyone pick up the Looney Tunes set yet with the "guide book"? I'm very curious to know what this is and if it's worth making a trip to the store. It's a nice little 80-page guide on all things Looney Tunes. But it is not an episode guide at all. Just a general LT trivia book with lots of info and pictures - it's laid out very well with some great graphic design.

I stopped at Best Buy Sunday morning to get Silence of the Lambs....
I got it too, but the cover is different from the one pictured on BB's web site. Mine has holographic artwork which, when turned slightly, reveals a picture of Hannibal. It has collector's edition printed on it and contains 2 discs. Does anyone know if this is the same set with different packaging?

2 disc IS 6.99--all BB has is the 2 disc, since it was their exclusive.

You sure? Because the week it was released on DVD I stopped in and saw the 2 disc with slip cover marked higher and I saw a regular cheapo single disc version. The best buy I went to a couple weeks ago had 2 different versions.

I don't have a problem with your ban on a store, but your post seems to contradict your own words.
You said you don't want to shop there anymore unless you get them on a slip-up, but you seem shocked or unusually pleased that you got those three DVDs for $2.11. Wouldn't that have been part of your plan for going there?

Thanks for the info! I think I may pass on this one and just wait for a sale to buy the LT set... I spent so much on those steelbooks and other big releases this week that I probably won't miss an exclusive book.

I tend to contradict myself in so many ways, haha.
Bottom line is this, I try my hardest to not give them business. I am just bitter towards their service and their B.S.
The only reason I went to BB is because I had a free 15$ to spend in their store. My girlfriend bought a laptop for her mother and my mother also purchased a laptop a couple months ago. This gave my Reward Zone card points which turned into money value.
That's pretty much it, I don't go out of my way to shop there or anything like that other than if there is a price mistake, etc.

Thanks to the posters for the heads up that there was a more comprehensive list of the titles on sale online. A lot of the titles I bought last night didn't have sale tags (Wrestlemaniac for example). The Jack Brooks Monster Slayer 2 disc rang up for 6.99. There is a sticker on the slipcase that says its a best buy exclusive (the 2 disc), but i've no idea if the 2-disc is all they stock. In any event, 6.99 is the price.
I was lucky enough to get the Bond blu-ray sets in the Amazon buy 2 get 1 free. I watched Live and Let Die last night, and it looked and sounded fantastic. I was a bit underwhelmed with the box set packaging though. No cover artwork of any kind, and the foam discs holding the discs in place looked a little flimsy. I know its the movie that matters, but after seeing those Best Buy steelbooks, I was a little jealous. Although, at $25 each (on sale) they would cost way more to buy individually, than as part of the 3-movie sets.

I was able to successfully use the 10% off coupon (found in the Insider flyer) this week on both "Indiana Jones: KOTCS" and "Incredible Hulk" BRs. I thought it might be of interest to some people since it seems that the new coupons have not been accepted by the computer for sale items. At least on these two items, the discount went through automatically (i.e. without arguing with the cashier).
