I checked out the price on the Samsung Blu-Ray player on Amazon and they are selling it for $229. It appears that BB and CC are just inflating the cost of the player to justify "giving" the Matrix along with it.

Actually the contents of the box include Halloween 4, Halloween 5, the 25 Years documentary and three versions of the first movie; the theatrical edition, extended edition, and the Blu-Ray.

This makes things a little more interesting in relation to my post in the Circuit City thread. Since Best Buy is offering the Matrix trilogy free with the Samsung BR player, could they possibly match Circuit City's price with the 110% guarantee and give us the Matrix Trilogy for free as well? It was assumed thety wouldn't match the free Matrix trilogy, but maybe they will since they are offering the same deal.

It will be on Blu-Ray but not with the gift set, it seems. It's kind of lame for those who want the Blu-Ray version, but I guess they didn't want to produce a bunch of gift sets for the Blu-Ray version since Blu-Ray sales are still only a small percentage of their sales (though growing with recent releases and probably will more with lower prices on players coming up). It would have been nice if they just offered the exclusive skull as a separate purchase so you could choose which version you wanted. Like say they had the skull priced at $10 or $15 with the purchase of Indiana Jones on 2-disc Special edition or Blu-Ray (even if they excluded the 1-disc). The gift set (making you buy a particular edition) is pretty lame when there are choices in versions and many of the real enthusiasts will probably want the Blu-Ray version.

The Matrix Blu-Ray collection is a great deal, but you can expect BB to raise the price after about a week.. That is if you can even find it in stock after a few days.. Releases tomorrow, might see it in the stores before the weekend. Jump on it!
