Thanks Speedy.

I'll grab a few of the $4.99 and $6.99 titles to complete my collection.

Good price on Indy 4 1 disc, but didn't like the movie enough to get it.

Thank you for noticing and commenting on that. I almost missed it.
Did a double take, heh.

Um, so, speedy, did you add this?

First, that's not 50 movies.

Second...are you freaking kidding me? Seven Samurai for 6.99? Battleship Potemkin for 6.99?

Something doesn't seem right...I can't imagine the whole list is included.

Yeah, something's fishy. I don't anticipate being able to find either of those titles in any Circuit City. If they happen to do the sale online I expect them to sell out really quickly. Well, here's hoping.

It's probably a stretch, but I say if you could find Samurai or Potemkin now, get them. Then head to CC early on 10/12, before they have time to post a correction in store, and test your luck at pricematching.

If it doesn't work, just return them.

Good thought.

I can't believe they'd mean that tho. That would be insane.
I'd order them and pay shipping for those prices (well...Potemkin at least, heh)

As far as I understand it, the Samsung 1500 just went Profile 2.0 with latest Firmware. Good deal if you want the Matrix set (I would want it if I didn't have the HD DVD).

I wonder if Best Buy will match the Samsung BD player deal and still get the 10% of the difference. That might save an extra $5. Plus I could use my Reward Zone card.

I am really up in the air on this one. I wonder what deals we will get over the holidays. I was hoping for sub-$200 before I purchased a Blu-Ray player (even if it meant waiting a year), but I'm already considering purchasing Sleeping Beauty on BR and I really want Dark Knight on BR (since it will have the Psychology of Batman documentary which I've wanted since I saw it on the History channel). I figure there will probably be some sub-$200 deals on BR players over the holiday season, but they wil probably be Profile 1.0 or 1.1 players since some of them are already $250 and they'll want to make room for newer players. I also figure that a lot of the deals will probably be $300 with free movies. I could be wrong about that, and if I am, that's probably better for everyone. I wish I knew if Wal-Mart was going to do their pre-Black Friday deals like they did last year. I figure if they were, we would be hearing about it soon. If I was really wanting the Matrix set (it would be nice, but it's not on my list of must-haves right now) this might really be the deal breaker for me, but for right now I'm up in the air.

This section is on Page #10, right hand side and from top to bottomstates the following:

Entertainment Weekly - The Greatest Action Movies Of All Time

Under that blurb is $6.99 each // Regularly 9.99

Next is the list of titles I provided:

Die Hard
The Matrix
Saving Private Ryan
Hard-Boiled
Speed
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Robocop
Bourne Supremacy
Kill Bill: Vo,ume I
Spider-Man 2

Next: " For the full list of Entertainment Weekly's To 50 Action Movies, visit
www.circuitcity.com/ewmovies "

Available in select stores, by phone & at circuitcity.com // Titles may vary by store.

I, too, don't know what to make of it. I just took their "50 Greatest Action Movies" tagline & moved it to the top.

Best Buy will match the price but will not throw in the Trilogy set.

Also, if you got to post #12 in this thread, you'll have an idea what Wal*Mart (and others) are expected to do this year:

Well the caveat listed is that Buy One, Get 50% off a Second is for titles listing at $49.99.

It does not say $49.99 or above.

I'd call your local store and ask.

I figured that would be the case. I think I'll take the Matrix set over a $5 savings

Thanks for the info on that. I read through that, but didn't see anything to give me an idea of what they're planning to do for DVDs/Blu Ray, mostly toys and video games. Though I did see that Best Buy may have some aggressive prices for Blu Ray players. But I doubt any store will take a huge loss in their player sales. They would have to make a deal with the manufacturer. I say over the next couple of weeks something will leak out. I just wish I could find out before next week to see I should wait or jump on this Samsung deal.

I just noticed that Wal-Mart has this same player for $253.54. So it's only a few bucks more. Of course, it doesn't include the Matrix trilogy, but if the $250 range is going to be a regular price for these, maybe they'll be up for better deals in the holiday season.
