HI DVDTalkers!

Got the Target circular for 10/12/08 - 10/18/08 in my hands.

Please be aware of the following:

All New Release CD / DVD prices listed are advertised as Available Tuesday 10/14/08
Suspected Low Price is listed in parentheses
GAMERS: The Wii Gaming System is NOT listed in this week’s ad ….. Sorry!
From time to time special deals / prices will be listed in the Store Notes Section & the in the product price thread that may or may not be available in your specific geographic area. I was counting on it! Target had a huge price drop like this one shortly after seasons 1 & 2 were released. This time I'll be on the better end of the deal.

According to an AOL article published yesterday, Target is expected to do quick price drops on DVD sets fast & furiously in the 4th quarter in an attempt to get customers into their stores.

I'm glad I waited also.

Here's what's predicted for Target:

Target
Status: Doing well, but still falling behind Walmart
What's likely to be on sale: Target will continue to draw in customers with low prices on apparel, DVDs (including TV box sets) as well as toys and videogames. The chain will have a few deals on electronics, but the bulk of their low-priced items will be on low-cost items for holiday shopping.
Prediction: Look for Target to go low as it senses wallets tightening even more in its core demographic.

edit...they price adjust a week after, right? so even if i was to get S3 this week (to ensure i get copy) i could price ad next right?

That's good to hear. Normally, I'd rush out and pick up a new TV DVD set on release week (like "30 Rock" season 2 and "The Simpsons" season 11 today), but I'm starting to think that now I'll just wait for the inevitable price drop, at least for the more mainstream titles. Although, exclusives are sometimes hard to pass up.

BTW, thanks for all your work here.

well, if they won't, just return it and re-purchase.
and if you've already opened it, buy the new one at $17.99 and then go back return that new sealed one with your $19.99 receipt.

(and NO, everyone, this isn't some kind of scam - it's returning the same item as was purchased with a valid receipt)

You probably won't have to even do that. I've had no problems price matching stuff on sale in the past.

I didn't know it was a 3 week window to do so. I think I've done it a few times past the 3 weeks with no problems.

Target matches their own prices up to 2 weeks, if it's the same as when I worked there way back.

That's what I ran into when I tried to have them price match Dexter S2 and House S4 about 3 1/2 weeks after I bought them on release day.

I wonder why they don't do 30 days like Best Buy and Circuit City?

But that picture is not from the ad.

I definitely see 2 discs coming from the right side of the case in the print ad.

Now, it could be a slide out drawer for the DVDs with the book packaged underneath or glued to the back of the case with re-usable snot (which they've done in the past).

We'll know soon enough.

I tried to blow it up as large as I could, but it got blurry.

I just hope that the discs aren't actually kept inside the book. Which is sort of how the ad makes it look like.

10-12-08, 06:13 PM
It's one of two things:

Either the entire packaging is the book and the discs are in sleeves (one in the front and one in the back). Or, you get a 2-disc packaging of either SD or BD with the book wrapped to the back of it.

Exactly the same for the 2-Disc DVD. The Target Exclusive is very nice. I'm very glad I went with it! Plus, I used the $3.00 off coupon from Papa John's, so, I got it for $19.99 plus tax.

The book is awesome. The Preface is by Steven Spielberg, with the Foreword by Harrison Ford.
