Probably. I know I'm waiting since I haven't bought a single set yet. Maybe it will be housed in a giant beer mug or something.

I couldn't say. I just think we're lucky that they went ahead and finished the series.

I get the same feeling. I don't think a complete series is in the cards. It seems like they only put out the last three seasons to be done. Then again after reading what I just wrote, a complete series could be the reason they pushed out the final three. :shrug: Who knows? :lol:
At any rate glad to see these to the end. I still haven't picked up season 10.

That, plus the fact that the Frasier: Complete Series set is just the individual season sets shrink-wrapped together just says to me that we won't be getting a Complete Series set (unless they shrink-wrap the sets together).

The good thing about waiting for a Complete Series release is that even if they don't release it, you can just go back and get the individual seasons. Which is what I'm doing with Cheers, King Of The Hill, Married...With Children, Prison Break, and South Park.

The downside to that being that if the season sets don't sell, the studio will just not put out the rest of the seasons.
Like with one show you mentioned, King Of The Hill.

True, that is a downside, but there is always the chance down the line they just release one set instead of each individual season (which studios have done from time to time). If not, I'll buy whatever individual seasons are out and just be happy that I can watch them (as is likely going to be the case with King of the Hill).

If the individual season sets don't sell well you won't see a Complete Series release. Like King of the Hill. Even Best of releases are important in getting all the seasons released. The Drew Carey Show had a Television Favorites disc released before a full season of the show was. We eventually got the first season on DVD, but sales weren't good enough and it has been about 18 months since that release.
King of the Hill and NYPD: Blue are good examples of shows that have had quite a few individual season releases (6 for King of the Hill; 4 for NYPD: Blue) but due to poor sales we haven't seen more seasons come out in a long time. Around 27 months for NYPD: Blue and 26 for King of the Hill.
I'm glad the final season of Cheers is out considering it was on the rocks of if Paramount/CBS was going to release the last couple of seasons.

I think the best example would be Mad About You. They've done three full seasons and a double disc "best of" set. They've tried both routes and apparently neither of those have worked. :sad: When people wait, everyone loses.

This might be the wrong particular thread to ask, but I figured I should start somewhere.
How has this show aged? I remember my mother watching it years ago before I was really conscience of what was going on around me and it was one of her favorites. Since we have more or less the same taste in TV shows, and I'm running out of DVDs for good sitcom I've recently started thinking about picking this one up.

Just the clothes, hairstyle, colors give away the sign of the times.
Oh, and the occasional guest star might be outdated too: Gary Hart, Tip O'Neill, Wade Boggs, etc.
But really, the writing and the comic timing never get old. Sharp, sharp, sharp.
My favorite CHEERS era is the final Diane year/first Rebecca year: 5th, 6th seasons. And the final year has some of the best episodes as well.

I know there won't be any special features on this set, but it would be great if they put the Tonight Show from the night the finale aired on this set. I remember taping the entire night of television and rewatching it several times. That Tonight Show is great -- they visit the real Cheers bar in Boston, the cast is there, it's a big party.

Diane vs. Rebecca - when was Cheers better?
I myself prefer the Diane years. I know the show enjoyed its greatest ratings success during the Rebecca years, but I think the quality of the show was much better when Diane was around.

I didn't like either but the show was fresher and more on its game during the Diane years. Her chemistry with Carla was much better than Rebecca/Carla. Plus the first three years you had Coach. Don't get me wrong, Woody was great, but Coach was on another level.
As stated, outside the clothes and guest stars, the show is timeless. CritterDVD pick up the first season used (i.e. ultra cheap) or rent them from Netflix if you are unsure.

I like Diane over Rebecca, Woody over Coach, and I like it when Frasier's there, as a target of some of Carla's best zingers.
Although, as I said, Kirstie Alley's first year (when Tom Skerritt guest starred as her love interest) was probably one of my favorite seasons of all time.
