:thmbsdwn: for Chihuahua doing gangbusters and Nick and Norah not doing what some were expecting.

 for An American Carol making the same amount as Religulous on TRIPLE the screens.

:thmbsdwn: for the weekend. Lotsa crap up there, aside from Appaloosa. I'm curious to see Religulous, but I'll wait for DVD.

Congrats to Maher and everyone for Religuous which is doing pretty decent. I cant wait to see it. Also happy to see An American Carol do pretty shitty and worse than Miracle at St. Anna. I would have been devastated and disgusted if more Americans found a reason to journey to see an American Carol but couldnt find a reason to watch Miracle at St. Anna.

Hmmm, how about saving us all the time and effort by saying..."I'm one of those bitter bastards, just like the director of American Carol portrayed in his movie".

There you go...feel better?

The reason I actually wouldn't see An American Carol is I have an IQ in the triple digits and I don't feel like getting insulted for 90 minutes straight. David Zucker hasn't made a decent film in decades and I don't want to see him try to preach some awful pro-Conservative propaganda down my throat.

To be truthfully honest, I'd rather be buttfucked by Ann Coulter than have to sit through more than 20 minutes of An American Carol.

That's why I wouldn't see Religulous.

It's funny, cause at least Religulous causes debate. An American Carol just insults anyone who is not pro-Republican.

Poor Simon Pegg, I hope this shows him he needs to pick his roles better. That movie looks like absolute garbage.

Considering how well it did this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if they expand it a good bit next weekend.

Pretty Ho-Humm, you know it's bad when Chihuahua is #1 and Eagle Eye has such a soft drop.

I added an extra $8 to Burn After Reading this night (saw it for a second time at our local drafthouse, it makes so much more sense with beer).

No one outside this forum has seen it. :) I think he's proving himself to be a one trick pony.

The Constant Gardner was very good as well. I'm not even gong think of writing him off after one poor movie (I actually haven't seen it, but given general reaction I think poor is a fair adjective).

Blindness is getting absolutely dreadful PTA's. kinda sad seeing as how I thought it looked pretty good. How to lose friends...is looking to have one of the top 25 or 30 worst weekends ever if going by PTA's. Its pretty f'ed up when a movie opening on 1750 screens/locations ends up making what'll probably less than $5 million overall. Fprget about production and advertising/marketing cost; does $5 million even cover costs for the actual prints of the film?

Outside of critics and dvdtalk, all the people I know who saw Eagle Eye really liked it... I think real world word of mouth is pretty strong.

Outside of critics and dvdtalk, all the people I know who saw Eagle Eye really liked it... I think real world word of mouth is pretty strong.Really? Almost everyone I've talked to said it was really stupid, but the action was pretty good. Tepid recommendations at best, I think it was just a big action movie put out there at the right time.

I caught it on Friday and thought the same thing. Skillfully made, but amazing that it was that unbelievable, even by Hollywood standards.

A movie that drops 39% in its second weekend in today's box office world is receiving good word-of-mouth.

A movie that drops 39% in its second weekend in today's box office world is receiving good word-of-mouth.I'm not saying the drop isn't low, but I don't think it's keeping it up simply through word of mouth. There's just not a lot of glossy action competition for the teenage/young adult crowd and it's not actively horrible or anything.

The Dark Knight has really dropped off the radar. Two weekends ago it wa in the top 10, then it dropped to 13, and now #21. I expected it to lingerin the lower end of the top 10 for a bit longer but now it's not even in the top 20. it has made $525 million though.

It's only on a couple of IMAX screens and a few regular cinemas. The fact that it's still playing in first run theaters in October is pretty remarkable.
