Holy crap! Punch-Out was my favorite game growing up as a kid, and it is the only Nintendo game I still play today because I just lost my taste for Nintendo games in general as I got older. The new Punch-Out game is almost almost enough to make me want to go out and buy a Wii, and I haven't owned or even wanted a Nintendo console since the SNES.

Debut trailer for the new Punch-Out:

I am selling my Wii for the second time on Sunday after I get my Mario Kart fill.

I would love to play this game but I will just wait and snag a Wii later. Hopefully a few other decent games will come out in the meantime.

And it appears this is just a graphic overhaul....and I have no problem with that.

Fun when I was a kid, but I wouldn't buy a Wii for it.

Their problem hasn't been selling Wiis. It's been giving Wii owners something to play.

THIS is something to play. As long as it taps into the nostalgia a little bit and has decent fight mechanics, this should be a big seller.

I thought I read something about plans to have this use the Balance Board to dodge and the punches like rhythm boxing. If so, I hope they have some really basic controls like the original as well. Part of the charm for me was the simplicity.

The balance board shouldnt be default since not everyone has one. But it should be an option to enhance game play and maybe some enhanced training/minigames.

It also needs WiFi. Being able to smash face with your Wii friends would be awesome.

And make the original a hidden unlockable or some other type reward.

I bought Punch-Out on the VC on day one. I still play it here or there.

Yeah, knowing Nintendo there's probably going to be like 5 different controls to use like Smash Bros or Mario Kart.

I meant for myself. I don't have a Wii.

I was going to post the same thing!

Actually, this is great news. As others have said, Nintendo has sat on their ass after releasing several good games last year. Punch Out is a step to the right direction. This game is tailor made for the Wii. That is the same reason why many of us wanted the Power Glove back in the day, since we thought that we could fight one on one with the characters of Punch Out. As long as they bring the same characters, this game will rock.

Oh yeah I remember him. He changed his name after he got married. He used to be called Manny Faces right? Mike would never change his name for a lady.

Wow, now I'm really going to have to buy a Wii.

I loved Punch-Out! and thought Super Punch-Out! was even better. Hopefully they give us some new characters, and maintain the pattern-based fighting system of the first two games.

Some of the characters from the old games, sadly, won't be included because they're not politically-correct anymore. :(

That is the nerdiest, and most insanely awesome thing I have ever seen.

Agreed. It seems to me like Super Punch-Out! never quite got the respect it deserved relative to the original game. This new game reminds me of Super Punch-Out! with an updated visual style, which I think is great.

Holy crap. IT'S ALL THE SAME FIGHTERS, TOO!!!!!!

We have only seen three of the fighters, so saying that it is all the same fighters is a little premature. There is probably a dozen or more fighters we haven't seen yet, many of which will most likely be new....

Man, I'm loving this. I still haven't beat Mr. Dream to this day, and believe me, I've tried. I think one time I did him in with the Game Genie. No matter what happens, I always clam up at the end.

It just looks like a blast to play - the ideal Wii experience.

Mr. Dream? psshhh...No Tyson no sale.

Tyson doesn't exactly work in this day and age. Unless the final boxer rapes you while biting your ear off... something tells me that's not in the spirit of the game.

This sounds interesting but, unfortunately, like all Wii games, I don't see how it deserves the $60 price tag. At $30 or less, I'm in.

I know you meant $50, but I just wanted to clarify that. Agreed that even at $50 it is too much to front.

Unless the final boxer rapes you

I don't even want to know where the wii-mote goes during that sequence :rimshot:

I'll pick this up, but as many have already said, I'm not spending $50 on it.

I don't understand the complaints about the 50 dollar pricetag. First of all, we know little to nothing about the game. Secondly, it's an arcade game, meaning it'll probably have more replayability than you 20-30 hour RPG. I've easily sunk more than that into both Punchout and Super Punchout each. As long as the formula isn't messed with too much (unnecessary forced motion controls), I'll gladly drop the 50 on it.

Me personally, I'm trying to avoid paying full price for pretty much every new release unless I want to play online. GTA4 was the last game I paid full price for, and I regret it.

I loved the hell out of Punch Out and SPO but there's no way I played them for a combined 30 hours.
