my morning options
arkansas/florida - should be interesting for the first quarter
penn st/purdue - should be interesting for the first 10 minutes
iowa/mich state - might have been interesting a few years ago
oklahoma/baylor - should be interesting until the 3rd OU offensive play
and teams to be announced on VS in 30 minutes..
hopefully the vs game is a good matchup

ouch for purdue
they stop penn state short on 3rd and goal from the 1
penn state rushes to the line and goes for it on 4th and gets stuff
but the refs rushed in and also blew the whistle.. saying they are going to review the 3rd down play.. which obviously wasnt close to a touchdown
so now penn state gets a 2nd shot at 4th and goal

Kirk Ferentz earns 3 mill a year. He has repeatedly called for draw plays on 3rd and long, and on 3rd and short he splits his RB wide, so there's no play-action threat. Now down 10, in FG range with a chance to get within 7, he goes for it on 4th down. He must have money on MSU. As someone on this board said about a game a few weeks ago (and it quickly became my favorite phrase): watching this game is like watching two virgins fucking

ha - I'd kill for his accuracy. I don't mind the lack of speed at QB: it is what it is, there's nothing you can do about it, and that will take care of itself in the next year or two with the recruits coming in. But the inaccuracy is a killer. Below 50%, that's almost as bad as Ryan Mallett. Plays were there to be made, just couldn't make them.

OC, OC, and more OC
they brought in tony franklin and his spread offense that he has spent the last few years selling to anyone with a checkbook.. and he took what has always been a power offense.. spread it out.. and then with the offense spread, tried to run the ball up the middle into the defensive line
it makes no sense.. either spread and pass on every play.. or setup a normal formation and run it over them (like they were doing in the first qtr)
franklin knows its his fault..and they were suppose to be shelving the spread offense for the rest of the season.. but they tried to bring it back in today after taking a 2 td lead.. makes no sense..
although shelving an offense that you spent the entire offseason working on, and been using so far.. is going to be tough to do much of anything with any other offense now

The thing about Auburn's recruits is they are all 5'9'' or 5'10'' 165 lb - 185lb skill players. They are gonna have to stay with the spread because they would have a hard time running a power offense in the SEC with the guys they have coming in.

Pryor is the weirdest looking football player I've ever seen. It looks like he's literally shotputting the ball, and yet he can effortlessly toss it 50+ yards in a tight spiral. It looks like he's slow and methodical when running, and yet he can gain like 6 yards in just 2 steps and no one can catch him from behind.

Running the spread at Troy is one thing but SEC defenses are bigger and faster and I don't think it can work consistently playing that level of competition. Don't get me wrong, when it's working you can score points but you can't win in the SEC without being able to push teams around a little.

"Auburn's offense may be in store for some changes, at least according to some players who listened to coach Tommy Tuberville in the dressing room after Vanderbilt beat the Tigers 14-13 Saturday night.
Wide receiver Rod Smith said Tuberville said the changes could come as early as Sunday, but Smith said he didn't know what the changes would be. Auburn tried different things offensively against the Commodores with mixed results.
``I don't know what we are right now -- spread, old Auburn offense. I'm just really confused right now. Everybody is confused,'' Smith said. ``Everybody is hurting.''
When asked if the changes would be drastic, Smith said it would ``probably be drastic changes.''
``We need to get back to old Auburn football,'' he said.
Auburn, which looked so sharp in its first three series of the game, was held to just 84 yards in the final three quarters.
Tuberville said he apologized to his players after the game for not having them prepared.

Pretty typical Jim Tressel script.
Good thing is that it works in the Big Ten, but doesn't work out of conference.
Unfortunate, since he's had the talent (and does this year too) to bring some good teams to the outer world.

We went to the Gators game today and it was a good time. The first half or so was very predictable offense from the Gators, but towards the end of the third and through the rest of the game they picked it up. I got a picture of my daughter with Percy Harvin and she was excited.

Weird note of the day:
"OSU snapped Wisconsin's 16-game home winning streak, which was second longest in the nation behind Oklahoma's 21."
I'm not surprised so much by the OSU win, but I am surprised that Wisconsin had the #2 streak. Sadly that shows a weak Big Ten the last coupla years (minus a few surprises)... weird.
